| I just wanted to take a moment to thank all those who attended Wagonfest 2012. I'd like to thank all those people behind the scenes who sent PM's with thoughts and ideas that helped or directed the planning of the event. You made the task worthwhile.
Many attendees drove a long way just to spend some time with old friends, and to make new ones, centering on the cars we love.
A total of 24 vehicles showed up, ranging from Connecticut to Michigan. There is already a thread for Pics, so I won't create a second one here. A special note that Tim Swink swept the fields, picking up trphies for Best mechanical mods, best interior mods, best exterior mods, and Peoples Choice. Yup, all four trophies.
Congratulations on a well desired win, win, win win.
Dave

| Dave, thanks for all the work that you did. Well planned and very successful. I feel good about 24 cars showing. That is a good number, especially with the economy and gas prices.
There was a good mix of old and new. Made my reservations at Microtel on the way out. See you next year

| I had a few people mentioned they liked the tent this year better than the pavilion in the past as it was closer to the cars, and closer to a clean bathroom. People weren't so spread out.
Any other feed back in that regard?
Or on other topics related to how to make things better?
Thanks to those who participated in the beer swap. I'm enjoying them nightly

| Dave,
It was done very well. If we can get rid of the pace truck at Watkins, that is my suggestion. LOL.
I might suggest lunch in Watkins and a walk through the Gorge would be a nice thing for the families on Friday. I enjoyed the cars in the show in Geneva but not the crowds.
Overall a great success.
Thanks again!!

| A gorge walk would indeed be nice. We passed a gazillion wineries with tours on the way there and back as well Lets' see.. wine BEFORE the race track or AFTER? | |

| Actually that was Jason from MA, Chris from Connecticut and Doug from NH.
And we cannot forget catching up to Jarrod for a while.
That was a great trip home.
I agree that the tent worked out very well. The proximity to the restroom was also nice.
Thanks again Dave! I am looking forward to next year.

| Yeah, the tent worked out great.
The track does catering also, not cheap, but good food.
Getting rid of the pace truck is possible, but the entrance fee goes to the $20,000 range, and still no passing.
Geneva car show was not quite family friendly, but some of the cars were nice.
Friday night meal, Uncle Joe's.

| No shrimp, no Mac's for me this year. Frankly, the last time I got that sick, it took TWO days before symptoms showed up, so who even knows if it was Mac's or not. The food certainly tasted fine.
I agree - the tent location was actually very nice, and super convenient being closer to the bathrooms. If it's the same cost as the pavillion, then I'd prefer the tent.

| The tent proved to be a bargain relative to the pavilion.
Pavilion $175.00 Tent $100.00 It was one of the reasons I was able to keep costs down.
I based expenses on a breakeven point of 25 cars. We had 24 show up. So we were fine.

| May I ask a dumb newbie question? Is Wagonfest ONLY for post 1990 GM cars? 'Cause I know that GM has been making wagons since the 1930s, and so have Ford and Chrysler. And AMC, Studebaker, etc. I looked at almost all the pictures, (some VERY FINE cars there, guys!) but all I saw were whales.

All wagons are welcome, the majority of us own 90's cars.

| This forum is mostly whales, so the people that show up are whale owners.
ALL wagons are welcome, from what I understand.
I know for a fact that other wagons have shown up and were welcomed with open arms and a barrage of questions...

| Anyone is welcome to bring any car to WagonFest. We are car guys and we enjoy all/most cars. But the focus of this forum and WagonFest (New York anyway) is 91-96 full size wagons.
There is a National Station Wagon Club that has an annual get together. They are more inclusive and have invited our group to their national outing. I am sure they are a great bunch of guys/girls as well, but I have no experience with them.
Hope this helps. | |

| I'll answer that no, it is not limited to post 90's vehicles. It just seems they are the most prevailing among our membership. Until until a few weeks ago, we had sections for other years includoing Tri-fives etc, but they went unused, and un-posted, so they got the axe when we were resetting the forum topics.
I would anticipate those owners and groups of vehicles already had other forums of direct interest, and did not frequent ours. There are many here who own pre-91's which share the same chassis. generally they get referred to (lovingly) as 'Boxies" Stick with us, as we'd enjoy your company and add you to our boxy fleet. The more, the merrier. Maybe the boxy owners should have a section devoted to their specific needs as well.
Come on Boxy owners SPEAK UP!
