| Getting my F(l)auxmasters installed soon and I'm trying to decide on an exhaust tip to run.
I was thinking of just a stock looking 2.5" downturn, but I wouldn't mind having two big slash cut, rear exit cannons (no more than 3") I REALLY wanted to do dual downturns like an old Trans Am, but those tips are expensive.

| Mike 81X11 had a set made up from regular exhaust pipes that he just posted when he showed everybody his red droptop fake GTO.He had them exiting out the back under the bumpers. Jim |

| also, it just occurred to me that the mufflers on these cars aren't where I thought they were In all my previous cars, the resonator came first, THEN the muffler in these, it looks like the mufflers come first? http://images.wrenchead.com/smartpages/partinfo_resize/MER/686.jpgif that's the case, would any muffler shop do a side exit BEFORE the OTA pipe (in front of the rear tires) or is that not allowed? I only bought the 2.5" mufflers, so I'd need a two reducers per side to connect to the OTA, or I'd have to have 2.5" OTAs fabbed up. | |

| The resonators are in the back, and they are not even, they have different offsets from left to right.
When I bought my car I thought I'd put chrome tips on, but since I wanted to retain my resonators there was just no good way to add them where they would look even. I ended up just changing out my mufflers and polishing the stock tips.

| You can do exiting tips before the rear wheels. I believe Krzdimond has that setup. It looks sweet. |

| I painted my Dangling Horse Cocks so it looks like a sleeper and nobody knows there is dual exhaust until I leave them in the dust with their hands over their ears after the Dynomax VT's open up! | |

| Resonators in your exhaust tip? Is that effective? Never seen one of those. |

how are you supporting the OTA if you move them there?
By a hanger welded to the pipe.

| I'm running the Dynomax resonator/tips from the Impala SS 17375 kit. P/N 24225 & 24226. They are slightly tweaked to exit symmetrically. If I install my quad ATR pitbull mufflers, I'll try to have a stock looking tip made in 304 SS. | |

| I have mine exiting in front of the rear tire as a temp set up, you really lose a lot of ground clearance if you run it that way. I will try to get a picture up tomorrow. | |

| If you ditch the resonators and run a Flowmaster-style muffler, what happens? I mean, is the sound unpleasant on an otherwise stock engine/exhaust system? | |

I would like to exit mine before the rear wheels as well, but I don't see too many people doing that. I figure it would just be simpler to not have the twisty, over the axle pipes and all, and I don't care about the resonators, so why not?

| Well, exiting before the rear wheels would be louder, and the crowd here is generally not too interested in being loud (a few of us, though...).
Also, if you have frequent rear passengers, the hot exhaust gas could be a problem. Not a concern here, though.
You could always just dump the tips right before the axle to avoid that bend as well. |

| I have mine set up to exit just in front of the right rear wheel and you lose a lot of ground clearance. So much that what was meant to be a permanent solution isn't really practical for a daily driver and is going to be redone, again... | |
