| How did you break the bracket? Can you have it welded? | |

| One of the bolts on the other side sheared itself off, I repaired that, but I think the violent shaking from the one side being loose upset the other bracket as well... it snapped on me today.
I don't think it can be welded. Dad's friend/mechanic doesn't feel comfortable doing it, and I trust his judgement. It's in 3 pieces. |

| According to Advance Auto's website, 1991 and 1992 boxy Fleetwoods could be had with the 124/140 amp alternators too... so I'm assuming I can get brackets from those too. |

| The ones I could. I don't have stock manifolds, so I couldn't use that brace. |

| The OEM manifold used a bolt with an extended stud to mount that brace. They put it there for a reason. With that big alternator on that long arm of a brakcet, it gets a lot of torque. If you can, rig something to strengthen the braket. | |

| Hmm... will talk to dad's friend. He'll figure something out.
Also this post from ISSF seems to give me hope:
I don't have one, but this same bracket was used on B-bodies and C/K trucks with TBI engines in the '90's. You just need to be sure to get one for the large alternator. '91-'93 9C1's are a sure thing if you can find them in your area. |

| I have never seen a 9C1 with that style of bracket. The Caddies may be an option, but I have never seen one of those either. It would only be on the LO3/5 engine. | |

| Yeah. Alas, closest big yard to me is about 30 miles...
Without wagon, this is difficult. |

| Oh it's aluminum?
Hmm... I'll bring that up with him. We'll see. Still I guess a spare couldn't hurt either way. |

| It is not steel, so the only other metal they use for that type of component is aluminum, as far as I know. I would give it a shot. The price of the part is indicitive of aluminum, as is the weight. | |

| Is there a way to tell what alt the truck/car may have had so as to get the right bracket? My brother wants to hit up the yards for a console and I need some Volk$wagen parts. I can check for a bracket too. | |

| First, it must have an LO3/5, Probably the LO5. The second thing to look for is a huge alternator. If it has both of those attributes, you have the correct bracket. Compare it to your alternator...if it is much larger, it is the correct one. The only cars that I have found them on at Rock Auto are the 90-93 FWs, the 93 is the newer body style. You need a pulley removal tool to get them off, because the power steering pump has to be removed, and the only way to get the pulley off is with a puller. | |

| Yeah, good point. Forgot to mention about the PS pump.
Thanks, Fred. |
