Question about the floor pans

Under the carpet in the cabin, there are two stamped holes with a plate that covers the whole and then sealer pad (rectangular that covers the hex or octagon hole). You can see them in the third photo in the OCC Bonneville thread I just bumped below.

I am curious as to what their function is. I can figure out anything other than drain holes, but then why we're they sealed up? on Ruby the seal is broken in the shape of the cover and they move around.

I think you're talking about what the brochures called; "anti-corrosion, hot melt pads".
I don't know what makes them special.

Look at that spot from underneath...those are plugs ( see the tangs hanging down on the underside ). Guessing that patch was put on the top to seal/sound proofing.

They are for draining the excess paint/primer after the body is dipped going down the assembly line. (at least, that's what similar ones were for on the Crown Vic. I worked on construction of the original paint line at Talbotville)

Never thought about that; it makes sense.

A little bird told me that they may have also been used to 'center' the floor plan so the rest of the body could be welded together.

I figured it was a production thing, but found them interesting and wanted to know.
