| The spec sheet shows my new '92 OCC wagon should have keyless entry, but the current owner does not have any fobs for it. He had no idea it had the keyless option.
SO is it easier to try to track down and programming used fobs, or just go aftermarket when I get the windows tinted?
I'm spoiled and like the keyless option a lot.

| Make up your own mind.....search ebay for oldsmobile key fob 92 (or similar) and see what your options are. | |

| As long as you can find out which fob you need, finding a good used one should not be hard. They are all over eBay. There is a model number on the fob that you need to know. (For example, my '03 S10 fob is marked 15042968.) Match that and you're set. If I'm remembering things correctly, you can add and delete fobs using a procedure in the owner's manual. If the car is really equipped with the built in keyless entry system, that's how I'd go. It's really amazing how many options that OCC has! Edit: here is a starting point. It appears that GM # 12522338 is what you need.

| If there are no fobs to go by then the best way to get the part number is to look at the key less entry module. It should have a sticker on it that will have the number. I believe some of these were different for the roady's but not sure for OCC's. The module on a 1993 roady is under the rear driver side plastic molding just above the wheel well. Good luck.
P.S. If you are thinking about a remote start for those hot summer days then I would forget about the stock setup and go with after market.

That's a neat toy on my wife's new GP. Would be kinda cool to have on the Cruiser. That said, thanks for the tips all. I may just order two used fobs off Ebay for now and take my chances. So to be clear, the module for the keyless is under the driver's side cover in the cargo area? The opposite of the cover for the spare tire well? I had to pull that on my Roady when I installed the trailer wiring, and it's easy to get off. Will verify the number on the box before I order used Ebay fobs. -Mike

| Yeah, that's where the module is. Remotes shouldn't be too difficult to source from fleabay once you get the number. |

| the fobs are easy to program for these. my fobs both had busted keychains. my neighbor used to have a caddy around the same era as my roady ('92) she still had the fobs for it. i asked her for them and programmed them to my car. works great! best part is when people see my keys they think i drive a Cadillac.
when you locate the module there should be a unplugged harness connector coming off it. heres the steps i used to program mine. "Locate a single plug connector hanging from the wire harness. This is the "Program Connector"
Use a jumper wire with alligator clips at both ends to ground the program connector to a bolt such as antenna bolt. Grounding the program terminal erases the system memory and causes the doors to lock and unlock once.
Keeping the jumper wire connected press any button on first remote. The vehicle will respond by door locks locking and unlocking. If you have a second remote to program press any button on it and the doors locks will lock and unlock again.
Remove jumper wire and test remotes."

| Is it possible to retrofit an early 90s keyless entry module into a car? Just wondering since I have 2 1991 olds key fobs lying around and it wouldnt cost too much for me to get a keyless entry unit from the junkyard. | |

| I have the remote start (thanks Chris!) on my OCC. I thought I wouldn't use it much, but I use it just about daily now, lol. I start it before I walk out the door, and by the time I lock the front door and walk to the car, it's only 120 inside instead of 150!

| Got a key fob for the Cruiser and tried to program it. Pulled the side cargo box and cover out, and the TRW box was there, and the plug was right where it was supposed to be, but grounding the plug does nothing. I know the locks are supposed to cycle when the plug is grounded, but nothing happens. Thought I might have a bad jump wire, so used another, and tried multiple ground locations...nothing. I'm thinking the TRW box must be bad? I'm sure that Roady in South Austin has one, but before I do that, anyone have other ideas? The fob does look nice on my keychain...... -Mike | |

Umm...no. Dangit! Really??? Key has to be on Run before I jump that plug in the back?? Wish I'd known that! Hahaha! I already put the cargo box/side panel back together. If that's all it takes I'll do a handstand in the driveway. Will try that tonight after work. Ha! -Mike

Now I can't wait to go home and try programming again....this time with the key ON. I figured since the power locks get power all the time, ignition key position would not matter.... -Mike

| I never got mine to program either and went aftermarket.Never thought the keys position mattered but I guess we will find out shortly after Mike gets home.Probably will be able to hear him shouting from here in Va if this "key on" works for him. |

| Nope...fail. Just went out to the parking lot and tried it....could not wait. Key on makes no difference. I guess the TRW box is bad.
Was a good idea though!

Good luck on getting your keyless back! No handstand because it didn't work. When you pull the cover back you see this. The TRW box is mounted there. I just try unplugging and plugging it back in...ha! You never know right?? And these two wire plugs are hanging there. The black wire with the white stripe is the one I was told to ground...and nothing happens. I'm thinking the plug with the light and dark blue wires is for the trailer wiring...but that's just a guess. Anyone know? -Mike

Anyone know? Ah well. I'd wonder if twenty years of being baked (and frozen?) have taken their toll on it. The electrolytic capacitors in the Delco radios are starting to give up the ghost by now. It might be worth a popping open to see what's in there. I'll check my FSM when I get home. It's for a Caprice, but has diagrams of the keyless entry system. I thought you were supposed to short two connectors in the ALDL to enter the programming mode, but I've slept since I read that.

| That's different. On the Roadmaster you have to peel back the D Pillar interior trim a bit. On both of my car's it's just below where the glass lift strut is. | |

This reminded me that my ground wire for programming the remote was under the passenger side spare tire cover, everything else was the same as yours. If your ground wire is in the same location then you may not have a defective reciever you are just programming it wrong. |

I believe the 91 had it on the passenger's side (that is where mine is), and everything after that had it under the driver's side D pillar (I have not looked, but I did not find it on the passenger's side on my 92).

| 1993 RMW and mine is in the same spot as Mike's. I cannot remember which wire to jump but you could always try them both? If it's a single wire then ground to body if it's two wires then connect between the two. I always use a red 10A fuse inline when jumping a connector. I also found this on that other site: http://www.buickforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5671 | |

| I'm planning to run to the salvage yard and nab the TRW control box out of that 93 Roady wagon. Will see if that brings mine back to life.
If not, I'm just going to save up and get aftermarket keyless entry when I do the window tint in a few weeks.
