I found a '94 4L60e in a RMS in a scrap yard w/56,000 miles and bought it for a back up, my wagons original trans. has 194,000 miles. Is there anything I should do to it to increase it's durability, and or performance before I put it in my '94 RMW next spring? The wagon is a daily driver except for winter months, and the motor is stock. Any ideas? I've got to keep it cheep, $150.00 range

Thanks, Mike

For 56k, it's probably okay as is. If you are gutsy enough to tear it apart, I'd replace the sunshell with a reinforced one, and replace the 3-4 clutchpack with a High Energy or Raybestos Zpack clutchpack. Those are $35 and $30-50, respectively, and you can replace both of them without special tools. You will need a regular pair of snapring pliers to do the sunshell.

Joel,

Where do I get this stuff? And what about an extra capacity pan, is it worth it?

Here's a great transmission article link from the other forum started by our own Joel (sherlock9c1). Nice job Joel!

www.bulkpart.com. There are other vendors if you search around. Oregon Transmission Parts is one.
