PostSubject: sproket is on a rescue mission   sproket is on a rescue mission Icon_minitimeThu Nov 15, 2012 6:39 pm

just got off the phone with sproket who is on his way north to rescue JT who is stranded with ruby. seems that ruby has developed a bad vibration, sproket seems to think it might be a Ujoint. he wanted to know if the drive shaft from a 9c1 would fit a wagon?

any ideas?

I'll be calling him back in a while

Yes, it will fit perfectly. All wagons and B sedans (4L60/E, 8.5 rear) interchange, D body is too long.

Wagons and sedans have the same wheelbase? Did not know that.

Yes. It would have been nice if they built the wagons on the longer D frame. Park a wagon next to a Cadillac, and you won't believe how much longer the rear doors are on the Caddy.

just spoke to him, he is still on his way there, JT's GF said you can really feel the vibration if you put your hand on the trans hump

Tell John to check the tires first for bubbles and shiny pieces of metal around the u-joints about
the size of salt granules!

I don't doubt he experienced something, but the 185 mile trip home in his car (let him take mine for the rest of the trip). Left me wondering what's wrong

Car ran near flawlessly the whole way. more to follow. Turned out my buddy tossed the driveshaft a few months ago, so that was an extra 25 min wasted on my 6.5 hr round trip to Orlando. Going to bed

That was weird!!!! The fact it did not act up the whole way home. Maybe your son is in love and they were feeling fireworks..... Laughing

Glad to see you made it home. Change that tranny fluid and see keep it local for a while. I suspect the torque converter. Or maybe he had something wrapped around the driveshaft and it came off when he stopped...... Now I am just making things up.

i thought about that, but the driveshaft was equally dirty all the way around so I doubt it.
