| If I recall our front doors take a 4x6 speaker?
Anyone familar with this speaker? I can get them through an awards program at work and they are the only 4x6s in the program. Wondering if they are worth it, or redeem my points for other stuff.
Pioneer's TS-A4674R 4 In. x 6 In. 3-Way Speakers feature 4x6 woofers with stiff Aramid-reinforced polypropylene cones that ensure clarity in your music's bass and percussion. Lightweight elastic polymer surrounds help keep cone movement under control, for smooth, tight bass. The 1-5/8 cones fill in all the midrange details for lush vocals and crisp instruments. Soft dome tweeters deliver warm, dimensional treble, so you will hear all the overtones that give your music ambiance Pioneer extends tweeter performance to much lower frequencies, creating a wider response with fuller midrange fidelity and clear, accurate vocals.

| I had those. They kinda sucked.
Save for the Polk plate 4x6s. Much better quality. |

| Those Pioneers are not bad for what they are. Will be a nice step up from stock. I've got 4x6 4-way Sony's from Wal-Mart in my Cruiser. They're fine. Same deal.

| I'd keep the points for something else. Can you get the later 6.5" brackets and mod them to work? If not, I'd go for 4x6 plates | |

Is there a factory bracket to mount 6.5" speakers used in the later model cars? I talked to Crutchfield and they have a very shallow depth (1.75") 6.5" that is really cheap on Amazon, Model KFC-1664S. $20 and some change. My understanding is that the depth of the magnet is what limits the use of a larger speaker. Cheers, Vern

Save for the Polk plate 4x6s. Much better quality. I just installed the Polk mm621 plate speakers (4x6). Along with the 6x9 JBL GTO938 in the back, the system sounds great. Driven with the stock Delco unit. I have photos of the entire installation if anyone wants to see I will post. Dick

Cheers, Vern Yes, there are brackets to mount 6.5s in later models. IIRC, 93 or 94-96 had 6.5 woofers in the front doors standard. I have a set. Stingroo had them but said they wouldn't work without modification (IIRC, you would have to trim some tabs off them) Maybe ray can recall what would have to be modified for the 6.5 brackets to work.

Dick Hi neighbor, It would be great to see your install photos. Always good to have some idea of what lies under the plastic! Cheers, Vern

| Skip ANY 4x6, they all suck. Grab any 6.5" co-ax and it'll be leaps and bounds better than even the "good" 4x6's. No bracket needed. A few self-tapping screws and a cordless drill and you'll but upgrading in seconds. | |

| When I replaced the speakers in my car I went with Kicker (Don't remember what model) 4x6s in the front doors, and they sound really good. For the rears, I went with a brand called Pyle, I cant say much good about those though. | |
