Figured II would start a thread on the process I'm making on the wagon. The plans are to dewood the beast first. Then I will be shaving pretty much everything (handles, locks, rear plate box, mirrors, antenna, hood ornament and all trim holes etc.) also some rust repair (lower driver quarter) Then the air ride install will begin.

This is how she began, a 1994 Buick Roadmaster wagon:

And So it Begins.... IMG_8246_zps1abf2b69

Then I began to take all the trim off and start to remove the "wood":

And So it Begins.... IMG_8261_zpsf1b4b646

And So it Begins.... IMG_8267_zpsad260262

And So it Begins.... IMG_8268_zps5562ca32

It was not as bad as I was expecting to take off the "wood" it basiclly peels right off with a little help from a heat gun. This was all I could take for day one I will finish this weekend. I work 12 hour shifts 4 nights a week so I will be moving along a little slow at times but I will continue so slowly chug along.

lol, was going to ask how you were removing the wood and then saw the heat gun. I'm going to have to do that myself now that wood is just beige color from the UV in FL....

Nice start, look forward to updates.

Just curious, is the tan overspray around the door handles factory?

No matter what color wagon, when you peel the "wood" off, that's what it looks like. They painted around the handles to blend in with the woodgrain.

Finally, no more wood! happy with the results for now got 1 trim piece that's stuck on with stripped screws but ill take care of that next. Soon the real fun will begin. On a side note are those front door trim holder pieces screwed on from inside the door? the rear ones came right off but the front seems quite different and I haven't had the door panel off yet. well on to the pics.

Always wondered if the tan was shot over or under the clear, meaning, can it be wet sanded off?

No sense in washing our cars in February, Jim... the roads up here are a constant shade of white until May.

Looks good Blake... I was thinking about tackling mine this summer too when it gets warmer.

Been doing a lot of work to it in the last few months got all the having done and the air ride installed. not to many pictures but ill show the few I got. During the winter I will notch the rear frame and extend the trailing arms to lay the rear out more but I got a show to drive to 3 hours away in a about 12 days so for now I just gotta drive it again. feel nice to have it on the road again.

Went to a machine shop and got a big cup full of the smallest size punch outs they had, then drilled out all the holes a little to make them the same size and keep tacking slowly till it was solid. Worked well and went pretty fast.

Looks good so far. Dewooding is the best mod for these wagons.

Another good trick for trim holes is nails.
