| Stopped by the parts store on the way home from work to pick up a few things. Got in the 92 RMW, started it up, and went on my way. The HVAC was set on AUTO, so I didn't notice that once the blower speed indicator began to rise, nothing happened with the blower motor. It had been working fine until today. Gave it a couple of bangs on the bottom of the dash, and it wouldn't spin once. Checked the fuses when I got home, and all are fine. Last blower I replaced was years ago on my old 9C1. Never done one on the automatic climate control cars. Off to look at the FSM, but happy to listen to opinions and advice.

| Check the resistor module. It may have a corroded contact. If you clean it and it still doesn't work, I have a spare for cheap if you need. Otherwise pull the connector to the blower motor and put your voltmeter on it to see if it's getting voltage. Put 12V on the motor directly and see if it spins. | |

| I agree with checking the resistor module. I've had probs on both 94's. They're simple to change and I discovered that one from a park ave will work. I had to change the heat sink but since it is mounted differently than the b-bodies it didn't have the corrosion problem. One of mine actually kept the blower on high ALL the time - even with the car off and key out! | |

| Of course, it worked fine this morning. Good thing, too... -16F on the way to work! Blower sounds strong. On the 9C1, when it was dying, operations was intermittent. It would slow then stop. I could get it to start by giving the bottom of the dash a smack, then eventually by wiggling the wire harness. Eventually it died and I replaced it. Makes sense that this one is caused by the resistor pack (on/off/on). I found the trouble shooting flow chart in the FSM last night, so I will have that on stand by, but in the mean time, I will check the resistor module for corrosion...
Joel, keep that on standby for me...
Thanks guys. Jason. | |

| 3 out of 4 starts today. Didn't work on the way home. I'll get on it this weekend.
Is the C60 resistor pack from my 95 SS the same as the C68 one in the 92 RMW? I can grab that one to stay warm...

| If the plugs are the same it should work. If it was me I would try swapping them. Worst case if something happens and you need 2 I have an extra also that you're welcome to. | |

This is what the module looks like in a 91 Cruiser: That's what the one in your SS looks like it's probably a swap. Though I'm guessing this is an electronic climate control part.

| The same one is listed for the 92 RMW, the 95 SS, and for 91 OCC. Not convinced it is correct for the C68 cars, though (auto climate control). I'll get under the dash this weekend and update. | |

| Ah yes, that part. I have seen those. I think that is for the manual climate control. Not 100% though. I'm sure someone can confirm. | |

| The coils are for manual climate control, the heat sink thing is for ACC. I just had the module out of the Marshmallow a month or so ago and it looked like the one Mikey posted. Had about as much crap in there, too. | |

| Thanks, Bill! Rockauto doesn't list something for the C68 cars, then. My local yard just crushed a 92... | |

| If I recall, all Roadmasters had the electronic climate control so it should only have the heat sink blower control module listed. | |

| Yes, that is why I was surprised that Rockauto only has the C60 resistor pictured above listed for the Roadmaster. | |

| Oh, I see. That is odd. I wonder if the Fleetwood uses the same part? They all have auto climate control too. | |

Jay: They list the correct one for the Caddy. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1515166A little pricey at $122.00 but it looks the same as in the Roadys and no, you can't have mine. Having enough trouble with heat in the car as it is. If you can't find one in the junk yards, the power transistor seems to be the only component that can fail other then the connectors. Should be able to find a replacement at Active. Bill

| Thanks guys. Hope it is the connection. If not, I will be finding that transistor by itself! | |

| I have had a couple of fans become intermittent like yours, then they just die. A new fan fixed my problem both times. The fan GM sells has a sedan squirrel cage on it. The wagon cage is a little taller with a lot more vanes. I tried a new fan and found it did not move enough air, so I found a working wagon fan. Good luck. | |
