| I have a 96 rmw with 126k on it. The oem mufflers are rotten, and the previous owner apparently backed it over something, bending the passenger side tailpipe behind the resonator. I wanted to put a simple pair of turbo mufflers on it and lose the resonators, replacing them with simple 90s to bring them out in stock location. Knowing the diameters before cutting it up would be a huge help. Thanks!! | |

| The pipes in front section of the system is 2 1/4 inches and after the Mufflers is 2 inches.. I was able to get the over the axle pipes they are available from Rockauto.
I am looking at the Dynomax Hemi Super Turbo Mufflers.. But they only come in 2 1/2 and 3 inch.
I have also seen Complete stock exhaust systems on e-bay for under $300.00
You may want to look at the Summit turbo mufflers they come in an offset inlet and outlet muffler 2 1/4 inch size.

I thought/heard that to, I thought that's what I measured on my Buick wagon a few years ago. I went out and measured the exhaust I pulled off my Caprice sedan and it's all 2 1/4". Walker exhaust says 2" after the mufflers too, I measured a few times in different places, and it always measured 2 1/4". Anyone else confirm either way? Mike | |

| If you are changing the resonators, the pipe size is not a major issue. Bigger is better in that area, at least up to a point. 2 1/4 to whatever adaptors can be found at any local parts store. You can weld them or clamp them...whatever suits you. The pipe can also be stretched to fit over, or into at least 1/8 inch larger tubing. i just did a custom dual exhaust for my OCC in 2 1/4 inch pipe. Mine exits with turn downs just in front of the rear axle. The difference in flow is substantial about .8 square inches of increased size, or 25% more flow. for the 2 1/4 inch pipe over the 2 inch pipe. | |
