| So I am in Manassas all week this week on business. knocking miles down on the wagon, as usual. When I got in my car this morning (6:15 am) I heard a "tink,,,,,tink,,,,,,tink" noise. Pulled the hood cable and it seems to be power steering pump. It has been giving me some issues over the winter and I was afraid it was dying. So I headed to my customer for two morning training sessions. After my session I got back in the wagon noticed when I released the emergency brake the handle did not come back fully. So after playing with it a little the release failed all together. So no emergency brake. We all know the outcome the last time I did not use it.... LOL. Stopped at AutoZone and picked up some Lucas power steering additive, dollar store for a turkey baster and picked up some food for lunch. Went back to the hotel and had lunch. After lunch I pulled some fluid out of the reservoir and replaced it with some of the lucas. I called DBeast, who lives about 45 minutes from my hotel. I thought maybe I could trouble shoot and/or fix my wagon at his place. Working in the Hotel parking lock stinks. Particularly a 40* windy parking lot. Mike was great as usual and invited me over to use his garage. Got the old release cable out and pulled a replacement form the parts wagon he had and my car was fixed. WOOT!! So I was back in business headed back to my hotel. On the way back headed down Rt. 66 I was cruising along pretty good talking on the phone (headset) with the wife and all the sudden a car flew by me on the left and hit his brakes. I cop was under the underpass we were both about to go through. His brake lights came on and he began to roll as I went by him. I thought I was doing about 74 MPH in a 65 zone. I thought for sure he was after the car the blew by us, but I was it was me that he had his eyes on. After negotiating through some merging traffic I made it to the should with blue lights filled my mirror and hung up on the wife. Soon after a second cop rolled by us both and pulled over in front of us. The first cop walked up and asked for my license and registration. He informed me I was doing 86 MPH. HUH??!?! WHAT?!?!? I thought I was going about 74 when I looked at my spedo as he was entering traffic. The second cop then came up and joined him saying he had clocked me several miles back at 86 when he was rolling the the other way. He said it was sure it was me because of the lights behind the grille. He then when on to tell me he could not believe it was a wagon when he saw me. The first cop started asking me about racing because I had a highly modified car. I decided not to try to convince him that it is not a hot rod . He explained to me that if I had changed my gears that my speedometer might be way off and my spedo may have indicated 72 and I was going 86. The other officer seem to by this as well. I began to explain that I had calibrated my spedo and know it is DEAD ON, but thought maybe not to argue with them. If he thought about it to much he might realize the 4.10's would take my spedo the opposite way. They both went back to the first car to discuss my fate. The second cop walked back up and said that he would let me off with a warning, but he could not speak for the other officer. I thank him and he left. The original officer came back after running my license. Convinced my speedometer was off he gave me a break. He thought I would likely get the spedo calibrated and fight the ticket and waste his and my time. He urged me to get it calibrated and told me to slow down. My lucky day I guess. Now to worry about my PS pump. Thanks Mike for the cable/lever and use of the Garage. | |

| that's okay. Timmy usually has pretty good luck with emergency brake cables so I don't think he has anything to worry about. | |

The reaction of both cops was pretty funny. I really don't think they knew what to make of me and the NotRod. Well so much for the stealth wood siding. I guess it is only functioning in daylight. | |

| Nothing serious. It would not fire up after I had lunch on the way home from Virginia. Goods news is that AAA still does its job and I was within 100 miles (AAA+) of home. I bump started it off the bed of the truck. Runs great. Must be either a safety switch or starter (AGAIN!!) | |

| Well, I'll bet you're glad to be home! Sounds like one of those trips. The parking brake handle on my occ ripped off in my hand last summer the morning I started out on my vacation. Very cartoon like, the cable snapped and ripped out of its sheathing. left me holding the handle with a two foot frayed cable wondering what the heck just happened. | |
