| I'd keep looking for a new welder, one that doesn't think so highly of himself. Based on the plans and a reasonably well equipped shop, I'm seeing about 50 bucks in metal and about 3 man hours.
Buying used you have no idea how it was treated and or how much rust has accumulated inside the square tubing. Might go through 3 or 4 until you find one that is useable. Watching your trailer disappear into the ditch with a piece of your hitch still attached would tend to ruin your whole day. Seen that happen a few times over the years.
For an education, try sitting on I95 just before bike week in Daytona. The worst pieces of junk pulling sorry excuses for trailers with 50 to 100 grand of motorcycle sitting in the trailers. Lots of examples of too little too late strewn around the road. Strange mentality that puts that much coin into a motorcycle and then pull it around with clapped out old vans and pickups with the neighbors trailer out back.

| I have been looking at the new Visa trailers by Gulfstream they are light weight and the dealer near me discounted the 23' 3500lb trailer $10,000 making less expensive than some teardrops. They make a nice 19' trailer also. Forest River also makes a similar trailer called Asend. Jeff | |

| Subject: Class 3 Hitch Availability Sat Aug 31, 2013 11:29 pm | |
| I recently attempted to order a hitch from UHaul, and received a confirmation and a charge on my cc, with an initial install date of 8/23. A week or so later, the date was changed to 8/30. I checked my confirmation again this past Monday and low and behold, the part number was changed from the class 3 to the class 2 hitch. I email their customer service and asked why the change, and if the class 3 was not available, I wanted a refund. On Wednesday of this week, the local UHaul place that was to mount the hitch called me and confirmed I did not want a class 2, and issued me a refund right then and sent a email confirmation. I was lucky enough to buy a used one a couple of weeks ago, and will get it mounted this coming week. | |

| Still no luck here. The Welder won't fabricate a hitch for me because he claims the car isn't designed to tow anything. He told me he wouldn't put anything more than a bike rack on the back of it or else I'd rip the whole back of the car off.....Maybe he mistook it for a Prius?
Anyhow, my search continues, or starts, since I haven't really even begun looking for a used one yet other than on here. I might try some local junk yards.

| Did you show him the owner's manual -- the part that says you can tow up to 5,000 lbs or 7,000lbs with a weight-distributing hitch and tow-pack?
What a moron... Perhaps it's just as well, somebody that dumb probably shouldn't be trusted to make something as important as a trailer hitch anyway. (Feel free to tell him I said so.)

| Search for a adjustable/universal tow hitch from the part stores ,maybe from a dodge caravan and a center section from a town car. Cut and adjust and have a garage weld it up.I have some pics on car domain of a custom one I did(page 8 on bottom). If someone could copy and paste to this forum please do..I can't on my cell.lol.
