| So I'm almost finished polishing up my Impala SS rims for my 94 RMW and I have a few questions. What plain center caps fit these rims? I have looked on ebay, but when they say fits impala SS what year are they talking about? Would some one be able to post up a link to plain ones that fit? I want to be able to put buick stickers on the center caps. Question 2, Tire sizes. stock 225-76-15 show a diameter of 28.3 inches on th4e tire racks web site 225-65-17 show a diameter of 28.5 inches on the tireracks web site 215-65-17 show a diameter of 28.0 inches on the tireracks web site How much will .2 or .3 of a inch effect the indicated speed and will there be any other problems, and what size tire would you go with?

| Those tires are too tall (and narrow). The stock height tire that works on SS wheels is 255 55 17. Optionally, you can use a 255 50 17 (stock SS tire), and many use the shorter 235 55 17 (including me). I just got a set of 225 60 17s for someone, and they look like they will work ok.
For caps, there are many choices. 94-96 SS, later FWD Impala, Malibu, Monte Carlo. All will accept a Buick decal.

| Also 4th gen Camaro caps.
And Chevy Venture caps give a flat surface, but I think the chevy logo is raised, so they might not look good with a Buick decal over them.

| I should also mention that I still want to be able to tow a boat with the car or pull a lighter trailer with 2 dirt bikes. Is 55 series side walls going to be able to handle this? | |

| I am running the stock SS tire size of 255/55/17 and they are almost an inch shorter than stock. Had to have the computer reprogramed to compensate. Pulled a 6X10 enclosed trailer tipping the scales at just under 4K with zero issues. I still have the same tires (minus 1 from a flat I ran on) 3 years later.
If i had to replace all 4, i would go with a 28" tire.

| I as well run a 235 55 17. With a simple reprogram the work very well. I pull a 1700lb camper plus 500lbs of stuff and 600+lbs of people and they do just fine. | |

| I use 225/60R17. They work well for me and looks fine. I am using the Michelin Energy LX4. Really nice tire. Silent on the road and comfortable. (OEM tire for Lincoln Town Car note: a HEAVY car so weight is not a problem.) Also, this tire offers a whitewall in that size. | |

| For many of us, tire height depends on what day of the week it is and what the weather is like. ;-) | |

| I run 235 55 17s on my 91 OCC. I like them as they are cheap and plentiful (vs the stock SS tire size) Actually a 235 60 17 would be alot closer to the stock size (.2) vs. and inch. Main reason is I'm buying take off tires that are used. I just paid 180 installed for a set of 4 Goodyear Eagle RS-A with 70% tread (price of one new tire) . If you go that route only buy the tires if the guy selling em will mount and balance (I got burned on a set of 4 where 2 had slices in them and didn't find out till I went to mount them 6 months later (DOH!)). Yes my speedo is off a little but it tends to keep me driving a little slower | |
