| Can anyone provide a source link to get a GM-26018946 3.73 reluctor? I understand OEM is not available. Jason had a couple suggestions but I am unable to find them. Changing 3.23 to 3.73:1 soon for towing. Thanks COL | |

I wish I could Nick. $hit I don't know now what I am going to do. I just got a message from a friend who has done my taxes for 20 years. I asked him to look at my income this year + my army retirement. This year I am going to get Social Security. I ask him to tell me if that would be taxed. He said yes and I would probably owe $2800 more next tax year. If I comment any more on the whole IRS thing this will definitely be in the wrong thread section. Dick

Right. Too funny. It seems my Army Retirement must be taxed along with my Social Security after I pay for Medicare some more. Not exactly how I imagined. I am done venting now. I have not heard from the shop who will do the gear change so it looks like I will have time to get the reluctor. COL

| By the way, the cheap way is to pull out the damn light bulb in the dash for the ABS warning light. As you likely know already, without changing the Reluctor gear, the pulses from the drive shaft sensor no longer match the wheel sensors, so effectively, it stops the ABS from functioning. The brakes still work, just no more ABS.
I don't drive Shammoo in the winter when I would be worried about locking up wheels on icy roads. I chose pulling the bulb and called it a day.

| This is all new to me. I went from driving a 1958 Cadillac to a TBI Oldsmobile. My cars before the 58 include two 55 Cadillacs, a 58 Oldsmobile, three Hudsons and several 50's Chevrolet trucks. No ABS. I drive it year round. I thought ABS was a good thing?? You know "Modern Technology". If I have the Ring&Pinion out why not change the Reluctor? Dick | |

| Certainly for the measure of safety it adds, and if you have things torn part, then it's kind of "in for a inch, in for a mile" thinking. And that's OK.
Oregon coast, lots of rain, wet slick roads, snow, ice, fog, curvy roads with a daily driver... nothing wrong with being able to stop better. So install the part, and know you've changed the odds of braking during an emergency in your favor.

If I have the Ring&Pinion out why not change the Reluctor? Dick The topic of ABS has been well discussed/documented over the years, At speed of less than 5 mph,. the old technology GM abs has been known to cause accidents, its very frustrating to try to and come to a complete stop on an icy/snowy/muddy/ wet grass type surface,, and the abs pulses,. releases the brakes,. and you don't stop,,even gaining speed heading down a slope. I prefer to not have the damn thing hooked up. I'd i magine it'd be the trailer you would rely on in that situation to stop the whole unit. ABS is another nanny invention for poor operators. Nick

| The Differential is apart. Axels look great. Randy's Ring and Pinion in Washington has the reluctor and it will be at the shop Thursday morning. I'll get the car back in the afternoon with 3.73 gears. They loaned me a nice shop truck to go back home 60 miles. Great service. Dick | |

| Yeah I will. I did not tell my wife the mod would have that effect. Only the towing advantage. She loved her 1958 Olds88 because it had that feel. Dick | |
