| So after more hours than I care to admit, I extracted the right rear shock and installed the new KYB KG5504. I don't quite have the feel of my new jack and I released the car dropped too fast. The new shock "peed" (as my wife said).
Is the new shock blown? I've seen some reviews on Amazon saying this happened to others and they were replaced under warranty.
I am sure it is toast but just want confirmation before I climb back under.

| I would say it is definitely blown, could have been defective. Sounds like a warranty replacement to me.

| The shock should handle the full weight of the car, unsupported by a jack, even if you go over a big bump at speed. If it "peed" just dropping the jack, then that shock was definitely defective. | |

| Agreed it's blown, my bagged wagon had 1/2" line and 1/2" valves and it would SLAM up and down if I pulled the switches hard. Nothing ever leaked out of a shock on me even under those extreme conditions. | |

| Thanks, all. I'm going to do a warranty claim. I'm going to go ahead install the left one and see if it blows so I'll only have to do one return. | |

| If you read about that failure online and experienced it yourself, you may want to consider getting a refund vice a replacement.
You are replacing the shocks in pairs right ?

| Sounds blown. If your going to do this job again, order a set of U bolts from Navy Lifer on the big board. Makes the job much easier! | |
