The first person that figures out how to put full gauges back in the 94-96 Roadmasters gets a gold star. I'm boggled why the non-LT1's have full gauges including tachs and the LT1 cars got shafted.

Someone make a Camaro or Firebird cluster fit.....and post instructions!

GM saved money by putting the clusters we got stuck with in the Roady's. Grumbles.

One of the ISSF guys did a Z28 cluster in his RMW. There's a thread over there somewhere about it. To make it work he pretty much has to custom build a dash face to fit as well as lots of work behind the cluster.

Mike(GN1220) worked with Gary on making the very first cluster for roadmasters.

I don't remember if it was or wasn't included in the sale of my car,but it doesn't matter as I wanted it stock anyway.

I had the priveledge to seei it when he picked us up in the 94,and I want to tell you it is sweet.

Crovo has one as well.

Figure out how much work you save by going this route and you'll see why the price is a good deal. I'm not saying it isn't steep (it is!) but start digging into the project and you'll see why.

Custom dashes. This would qualify.

How about a totally digital dash in a B-body, 93 Caprice wagon.

dakota digital - Dash modifications Wagonfest2009037

This is a Nordskog 6 unit digtal dash. Fairly straight forward installation. Had a bunch of pics at www.impalassforum.com last spring when it went in. It ran about $300.00 plus fiddly stuff like connectors. They are getting scarce to purchase these days as Nordskog bit the big one.

edit 05/22/2011 Digital sah now sold by Intellitronix. can be found at:

I am pretty sure that Dakota Digital offers a similiar unit to the one in Shammo,s .The last time I priced their
setup they wanted over $600 dollars. Why couldnt you fit the early analog gauges to the later wagons?Just a
thought!

When I purchased the Nordskog unit, it was from Ebay, and I picked it up for $300.00 At the time Summit also had them, but for more. Nordskog may have gone under, as I see the website re-directs you to somewhere else. So if you find one, and want it ... GRAB IT!

I have a 91 Caprice sedan. Want to install a 91 - 93 RM instrument cluster. A member on another forum said there is someone on this forum who makes the wiring harness. The name "Joe" was mentioned. Anyone know who he is?

Thanks

81X11:

On the other forum, put "Z28 Cluster" in the search box. There are a couple of options. Go with the one that you feel comfortable with.

Stingroo: I am waiting for a reply from 93Wgn. I got the dash bezel today. All I need is the harness. And the correct SEM paint to redo the bezel (tan to blue). And probably the oil pressure sender to replace the oil pressure switch in the Caprice.

You need to send him the pigtails from the donor car. You need about 10 inches of each plug to send in.

I can do that, but I have to know where to send and how much.

Yeah, I assumed the sender was a requirement since we just have an idiot light. I want do to the cluster swap SO BADLY.

I'm not FROM Jacksonville, I just go to college here, so I don't know any of the public schools or anything like that (well, there's an elementary school that I get caught in their school zone every Friday on my way to work... but otherwise, none. lol)

Lorne is correct, I worked with Gary to design the Z cluster to bolt right into the RM's. He sent me pics of the mock up installed in a wagon, then sent the prototype to me and I designed the bezel, had it produced and fabbed the first one to be installed. It is now in my turd wagon. This thing is very cool and Gary now offers a lot of options that weren't available at first. Here is a shot of the very first Z cluster as it looked in Lorne's car.

I did a DIY version of the z28 cluster in RMW. Cut a pigtail that matched the Camaro cluster from a Cutlass in the yard. A couple hours with wiring diagrams for a Z28 and RMW with 2 connectors I de-soldered from a spare RM cluster and I had a wiring harness. I switched one of the wires for a function I would no-longer be needing into the correct cavity for the Tach in the PCM connector to avoid pulling a new wire for that. A few minutes of trimming on the plastic behind the cluster and it sat back where it should. I removed the bezel and lens from the Camaro cluster and screwed the bezel/lens from the Buick cluster on so it bolts into the RMW dash. Only thing left to do is cut a piece of black plastic or something to fill the empty space (the wood section in Crovo's wagon). I claim to have had the idea and started the project before GN1220 but I'm cursed with a lack of follow-through so Gary has been selling them for a year or 2 and mine is in service but still not finished. O well. Anyways there is a DIY option. I have probably $75 in mine. There's nothing revolutionary to it just takes a little creativity.

Mike you wouldnt be thinking about changing the mileage on your wagon when you get that
Z-28 cluster?Just leave the mileage as is so when I end up with your wagon I wont have to
worry about it.You know you wont keep the wagon too long because you just cant do it.

Do you remember how you got this picture? I'm trying to get a night time picture with the instrument cluster lights in their natural blueish color. Comes out with only the needles, and they apprear red.

I've tried with the light coming in from outside from an exterior overhead flood light and my camera set for night pictures. I'm using a Kodak EasyShare Z710 digital. Might be the camera.

Looks to be parked in a garage with fluorescent lighting. JMO though. These are awesome plug and play units. The woodgrain face on Bill's is awesome. Should this 91OCC purchase go through I'll probably print out a matte face for the cluster to change the font. Love the Olds cluster, just wish it had skinny tall letters instead of thick wide ones. And chrome circles around the gauge sweep areas would be a nice touch. As seen on this Mustang cluster (which is a fun mod for a 96+ Panther, too)...

dakota digital - Dash modifications Mustangtuning_2059_118143657

I may not find pre-formed chrome trim for a 91-92 Custom Cruiser, but I can get some stiff wire and form it myself if it doesn't want to stay straight when I go to put it on.
