I put on the SSBC kit for the Impala with slotted rotors and (I think) Hawk pads during the middle of last summer. Car was in storage during the winter and now they squeel just as the car is coming to a complete stop.

Any thoughts as to why? Can it be stopped?!?

Usually this is caused by the pads being loose in their mounting and or the backing material worn off on the piston side.

Just went through this exercise with the Caddy. Tightened up the mounting tabs on the outter pads and coated the piston sides liberally with anti-squeel goop (think its really only red silicon gasket maker, just more expensive). The anti-squeel stuff is available at any parts place.

Caddy is back to being quiet again.
