My friend Rich up in Fredericksburg bought the '79 Electra and we decided to make a day of it. Drove out to Fredericksburg to deliver the car, I wanted one last good drive in it. Misty followed in the Custom Cruiser and then we met my parents in San Antonio for a night on the Riverwalk.

Anyway, here we go.

Heading west into the Texas Hill Country. Gorgeous day, wide open spaces beyond the mile-long Buick hood. Great drive for my last one in the Electra. This car LOVES the highway. Set the cruise control and just float....Rich got a GREAT car!

After saying goodbye I climbed into the Custom Cruiser and we drove south to Kerrville and then southeast back to San Antonio on I-10. I love this part of Texas, it's goregous!

And off topic, but here's a few pics from San Antonio. Met my parents for dinner and then took the kids on the boat ride through the Riverwalk and then 70-stories up in the Tower of the Americas. Great night. I've lived in Texas over 20-years and this was the first time I've gone down on the Riverwalk with it decorated for the holidays. Really pretty and we all had a ball.

And seriously... What's with all the winter hats??? Is it really cold enough down there?

And... You can get gas for under 3 bucks? It's still $3.50ish here. I'm Jealous. Very Happy

I know, I'm planning to go nab that '89 K5 Blazer in the next few months for my son and I to play with. I got rid of a car so now Misty can't gripe about the K5 coming home. Very Happy

It was around 64-degrees when we delivered the Electra, and in the low 50's when we were on the river in San Antonio. We freeze down here if it's below 60... And Misty gave Lily that cat-hat for Christmas and I can't get her to take it off.

As for gas, I paid $2.75 up in Dallas last weekend....and that along with getting over 21mpg on the Olds wagon helped my road budget a LOT.

Oh one cool thing, after 9 years the Buick is FINALLY going to get Texas plates. The car came from California originally, I picked it up in LA in 2004, and it only lived in Jersey one year and then was back in Texas, but the car never lost it's Jersey plates until now.

I'm REALLY glad Rich bought it. It's going to be parked next to my old '96 Roadmaster wagon I sold him last spring. He also bought my '93 S-10 pickup. I've turned into Rick's "car connection", ahahaha!

I think Rich was planning to flip it when I told him I was selling it, but I got the message below yesterday...he sent it about 4-hours after I dropped the car off....

"Hey Mike, don't care if I ever do NOT sell this one.....Time capsule, plus, I do remember 1979 clearly....I now know, in less than 4 hours, I have once again become a caretaker...Dangit...YOUR FAULT MIKE !!!! This will cost you sir....Rich"
