Fuel tank rubber vent hose.

I changed my gas filler vent hose today, and found that it is a. an odd size, b. the odd size is not available on weekends. In fact, the size is almost not available except in 25 foot rolls, which is ridiculous, because you only need 10 inches of it. The OEM hose is 18.5mm. I personally have never knowingly seen 18.5mm hose (until today), and I helped design dirt. 3/4 inch hose may be a reasonable substitute, but not available on weekends either. I was told to use heater hose, but I am not excited about heater hose in continuous contact with gasoline. I spent 5 hours today either under the car, on the phone, or chasing parts. The job got done, but it should have been an hour or two job at the most. An added note...do not use stainless covered flex gal line, it does not like to go over the barbs on the tank and hose.

Why did your vent hose require replacement? Seems like an odd part to fail.

It cracked from age.
