| I have a '95 RMW with the towing option. It has both a belt-driven and electric fan, trans oil cooler, etc.
Yesterday, I looked at a '96 which I'd like to buy with 33,800 miles. It has a receiver hitch, but only two electric radiator cooling fans--no belt-driven fan. It does, however, have a factory transmission cooler in front of the radiator. Is there a chance this car has the towing option? I could not read the driver's-side door tag showing options.

| Two electric fans would mean it's not a tow pack car unless some one converted it. I doubt it was converted to two elec. fans with the car having such low mileage. The option code sticker is in the door jam of the tailgate, on the left side. | |

| Thanks, 2000Z for the reply. I agree this '96 was not converted to electric fans only. I know the family of the person who bought the car in '96--he was not the kind of person that would modify a car in any way. The receiver hitch was probably installed by an aftermarket place when the car was new.
The 4-page thread on this site about the tow package is not really clear on how to ID the tow package except to state that all '94-'96 RMW's had the transmission cooler. Checking for the tow pkg. code on the option sticker, now that I know it's on the tailgate door jamb, will be my next step. In any case, I'm quite sure I'll buy this one--there aren't many with mileage this low.
FWIW, my '95 has this sticker on the driver's side door.

| You're right. The front of the engine is much more accessible without the shroud, fan, belt, pulleys, etc. If you tow a snowmobile trailer & 3,000 lb. boat, there's no need for the heavier springs and whatever else is in the tow pkg. Manual air shocks or Air Ride bags are needed if not equipped with auto leveling, however. | |
