| I am searching for replacement seats for my 92 RMW. My leather is a wreck, and the wife and kids hate leather after a day at the beach.
I would love to find tan cloth seats from a RMW in New Jersey, but my search is coming up empty.
I considered saddle blanket style seat covers, but that looks to be nearly $300.
What other seats fit? I know of the Bonneville swap, but I wish to retain the front bench if possible.
Will seats from older B body cars fit? Older Buick or Chevy wagons, sedans etc.
Thanks.

| Go to the salvage yard and find a Roadmaster sedan. Caprice will work too but may not be as nice. Olds Custom Cruiser will also work, but those are hard to find in most cases.
The 77-90 full-size GM stuff would bolt in as well, but may look a bit odd..
I have not lived in New Jersey in 20 years (escaped to Texas and never looked back), but when I lived there this was one of my favorite salvage yards:
G I Auto Salvage Co Inc 85 Bloomfield Ave Pine Brook, NJ07058 (973) 227-1100
And there are always the big Harry's U-Pull-It's over in PA.
Good Luck!

| How far do you wish to travel? I can keep an eye open on my junkyard travels, and pull a nice set if I see them. However, the big GM cars are getting hard to find in these parts lately. Wagons in particular are hard to find. The bonneville seats are a great swap, and can even be found in 60/40 split benches. Very comfortable as well, much better than the stock seats. | |

| Also, the front seats are the same between wagons and sedans. Rear seats are unique to TBI wagons, but that's not to say an older rear seat from a box wagon would not fit. | |

| 81... Can't say I love NJ, but it is home and family is here. If I get up north I will check out your old favorite yard. Some of 80s tweed type cloth might look very cool in the beast.
Malibu..... I wish I could roadtrip to far away lands. I could justify a couple hundred miles from the Jersey shore for the right set of minty clean cloth.
I will continue to search. I appreciate the replies.

| If you find a set of seats, have them shipped by Greyhound, to your nearest package depot. The fronts should cost about $70 to ship (together), and the rears (together again) about the same.
You could have an upholstery shop just replace the seating/back area on the fronts and backs. It may be cheaper, and work out for you.

| I have an extra set of tan cloth seats they are in good shape but not minty from my 94 RMW you could just have the skins replaced with cloth covers. The BMW guys do this all the time one option that works. Jeff | |

| They are just sitting in my office taking up space... so yeah. I go out of town tomorrow (sorry not NJ) let me post some photos of them for you and you can see the few issues for yourself. Jeff | |

| So, how hard is it to re-skin the seats?

| It is not all that hard, but you have to make a tool to get the headrest off. They have a nylon clip that catches on a notch in the rods that hold the headrest. You have to slip the tool along the back of the rod, and then pull the headrest off. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. There are a few hog rings on the bottom of the seat that you will have to remove and replace. | |

| 50 shades of brown…. Well, it took some doing, and a bit of driving by others, but the leather is gone…. I bought cloth seats out of a '94 Chevy wagon from silverfox103. He arranged a 2 step delivery from NH to NJ, so I only had to drive 90 miles round trip, instead of 1000. Thanks to MalibuSSwagon and Lynol for their assistance. Cold beer awaits all 3 of you if you are ever in the neighborhood. The fronts went in like a charm. Leather out, tracks off, tracks on, cloth in. The rears went in like a …. well, not a charm. Did ya'll know that GM made a major mounting and folding system change to the rear seats? I was vaguely aware of this, but did not know the extent of the change. I wanted to retain the folding seats, so a solution was needed. So, the rear seatback solution was to take the buick metal backing plate and cushion springs and mate them to the Chevy seat cushion and cover. Some cutting was needed to a few of the springs, but it all went together ok. Having the seat back made with a zipper really helped the process, kinda like making a burrito. The rear seat bottom from the Chevy did not fit due to the '92 style seat folding brackets. The solution was to take the chevy skin and wrap it on the buick cushion and spring. 21 century hog rings (zip ties) hold it all together. Not perfect, but for a weekend beater/beach car, it will do nicely. | |

| I'd say you did a nice job David! Now when someone else wants to do that seat swap, there's a guy on the forum, who knows the answer.

| Nicely done. I can add if you find some, Bonnevilles also came with a 60/40 bench seat just like our wagons but with the bucket seats. I have a set in tan fabric too! But they are going into my tan 94 Caprice that has the same seats you just put in.... | |

| Great work! I was a bit worried when I saw you had a 92 and the rear seats were for a 94, but looks like you fixed that little detail quite easily. | |
