| Ok so in the failing daylight last night I tried to remove the old O2 sensor. Looked like a 22mm wrench. with the long wire, I can't really get a socket on their and the FSM refers to a specialty tool for removal. The wrench I had was either hitting the steering column or the exhaust manifold so I couldn't get a turn on it......(not to mention probably 260K+ miles of heat to cement it in place.
I know a bunch on here have swapped it out, how'd you do it?
thanks | |

| I cut the Y pipe out of the car. Might be a bit to extreme in your case though Btw, I'll have your O2 out today. Should be there by Friday. | |

And they can take quite a bit of torque and heat. Used one with a breaker bar on my friends POS Neon

| Isn't the o2 sensor located in the manifold, not the pipe? | |

| Hmm. I seem to remember that the O2 on my 92 RMW 5.7 was in the driver's side manifold. Or, I could be crazy. | |

Thought mine was in the neck of the collector of the Y pipe. I'd check, but it's now in its new home at the scrap yard.

| It's on the exhaust manifold just above where it bolts to the Y-pipe right next to the steering column

| I used a crescent wrench to remove mine. Started it with the wrench, and turned it out with my fingers. Disconnect the wire before removing it from the manifold. | |

| Don't forget... if you're replacing it, you can simply cut the wire flush and use a socket and a breaker bar. | |
