Hot Pursuit Tires! Wink My brother's Nissan Crapfinder failed inspection because his two front tires were shot. He called me for help, so at lunch I drove over to my favorite used tire shop in Pflugerville. Not only did the have a good set of BFG's for Dave, they had also just gotten a shipment of P-Ville Police take-off tires. Well I needed tires before the big road trip, and he made me a heck of a deal, so I cherry-picked the best ones and now the Roady had a great set of Cop-Spec Firestone Firehawk GT-Z Pursuit tires on it. HA! I stole Buford's tires!

So I've had these Firestone Tires on for almost a year now.   I hate them.

The Good, they hardly look worn at all after a year of car shows and cruise-ins, and one trip to Dallas and one to Houston.   I mean they still LOOK brand new, almost no wear at all.

The Bad...well...a lot.   I think they're made of stone...they ride HARD, you feel every pothole, expansion joint, and pavement crack, and you can both hear and feel them while driving, especially on certain pavement textures.   On a recent trip to Killeen, my father-in-law asked me what was wrong with my car...did I have a bad wheel bearing?    Doh...I hate that.

SO I had none of these complaints about the Goodyear Eagles I had on the car before.   Will be looking for another set of those soon.    I also ran Pirelli Mustang take-offs a few years back, and they rode super-smooth and quiet, but they wore out fast...too soft for the weight of the car.    The Goodyears seem to be the best fit for these Impala wheels on these cars.

Just thought I'd share in case you are looking for tires and go the used-police-car ones like I do.   Go Goodyear, not Firestone.

I figured they would be super hard, so they are durable for the stupid things the cops attempt to drive over with their cars. They also have to be rated for extreme speeds, so the tire has to be strong and strong means stiff to me.

The police-spec Goodyear Eagle RS/A tires seem to be a lot quieter and they for sure ride a lot better. Will be looking for a set of those again soon.

The local PD back in Kentucky would give their takeoffs away for free to any citizen. We got a set after vandals slashed the tires on a Bonneville we had.
