| Anybody tell me how to release the head rest on a RM seat? Can't figure out how to get it released from the seat. | |

| Thanks. When I'm able to get back on the forum I'll have to check it out. Haven't been able to get on for the last couple hours. Maybe tomorrow sometime. What a pita this is. | |

| You have to make a tool that will slide between the nylon sleeve, and the metal shaft. There is a nylon tang that engages a notch on the back of the shaft. When you slide the tool into the sleeve it keeps the tang out of the notch, and you can pull the headrest off (there is one on each nylon sleeve). The tool should be about 4-5 inches long. Pull the headrest up all the way, insert the tool, and pull the shaft out of the sleeve. | |

If I am on the college network I am always successful. | |

- Headrest Removal
By: Daniel Esteban
After hours and hours of cursing and figured out a good solution to the GM Engineer's practical joke.
In the FSM, it says to "fabricate" two tools 2.5" long with a 1.25" handle; 3/16" wide and 1/16" inch thick. I found that a ring clamp actually worked rather well with some preparation.
Step 1: Take a 1/2" ringclamp with about five inches of solid metal space. Cut the clamp to leave one 5" inch metal piece.
Step 2: Split the section you cut down the center to leave two identical 1/4" by 5 inch pieces.
Step 3: Bend the "tools" about 3 inches to leave a 90 degree bend in it.
Step 4: With the headrest in the full upright position, place both "tools" down the left side of the headrest posts, right side if you are looking at it from the front.
Step 5: Push the tools down until they stop (it should be about 1.5" to 2" from hole.
Step 6: With the tools in place, push the headrest with your chin and the tools, one in each hand. Make sure you go at least 1" from where you started and push the "tools" down firmly.
Step 7: Pull up and the headrest should pop out.
I did the first headrest on the first try and the second in three or four attempts. I tried using everything else imaginable, but this worked really well.
