| Over this wonderful winter I have been stock piling new parts for the OCC. Beltech front and rear sway bars,Metco rear trailing arms,4 new KYB shocks, and last but least PST poly front end rebuild kit. This should take care of the yacht like float on the road. My question to you guys is will I regret not replacing the springs? Really not looking for that autocross jaring feel.Ride height looks ok to me.I appreciate all your feedback, thanks. | |

| If you don't want to lower it, you likely don't need to worry about the springs. But you should lower it. |

| Lowering it with springs will put it almost on the front bump stops. To give yourself some extra travel, cut the tapered part off of the bump stop. If you use springs, take .030 inches of shims out of all stacks for every 1/2 inch of spring drop. Measure the ride height from the top of the rim to the edge of the wheel opening and record. Then after lowering, take the same measurement. Once you have the drop, take .030 times the number of half inches of drop and remove the result from each of the four stacks. You might want to get new nuts for the studs if they have been tightened more than twice.
You could use drop spindles, and you would not upset the camber. Since you do not change the springs when using drop spindles, your spring rate would be the same as before lowering

| Fred I like your spindle idea and I might take that route. But I gotta quote Nick,".Do what you want to do ,cause your going to do it anyway." I'm going to give this setup a try first and then make a decision on the spindle. Backwards, maybe, but I feel like this is going to be such a dramatic change that I may not care if its lowered or not. That is until I make to a Wagonfest and see so many different set ups in person. Thanks for the 411,guys. | |

| Try it with stock springs first. Which shocks did you go with? I tried kyb gasadjust and they are too soft. Still bounces twice after a speedbump. I either need severe service or konis.
I drive newer Subarus all week, and the Roady really feels like a boat compared to them.

| Seriously - the Severe Service shocks are wonderful. I don't know what those dudes are talking about who say they rattle your teeth out. One of the best mods I did to the car in phase 1.0 lol |

| I just put on the KYB gas adjust shocks and I was actually upset that the ride did not get stiffer. It bounces twice after a bump in the road. I have a newer suburban and really like how firm the ride is.
My only hope is that i remember to buy the Sever Service shocks when these need to be replaced.

| Bobloblaw - love that name.
I have the Gasadjust on my Alfa with stiffer springs and they are just right. I will definitely replace them once I deal with the sloppy steering.

| if you want much heavier shock with very good rebound control,.,. you can open up the lower control arm hole about 1/8" either side,. and use dodge van shocks,.. i,m pretty sure thats what i used
No i don't know the exact part numbers,. but i know they were for a 3/4/1 ton ton dodge van and they worked well,.
