I got really lucky today. I had the urge to check my front brakes on the White Elephant while the Starship is in the paint shop, and found that my passenger's side had about 0.01 inches of pad left. Another day of driving, and I would probably be on the metal backing. I replaced the caliper too, because I was getting uneven wear from side to side of about 1/16 of an inch.
