| Ebay has a stereo upgrade kit for the 94-96 Impala SS. Amp,better grade speakers, wiring, etc. Any reason this wouldnt work on my 91 OCC assuming I run the 96 head unit? Thanks in advance,Andy....

| Wouldn't even bother.
What do you want out of your sound system? You can piece together more powerful better performing aftermarket solutions with ease. |

| I want to retain factory look but add MP3 plug. Louder more powerful sound. | |

| Okay. So it's not a car-specific anything, they just target it by the search terms.
Everything there will work with your OCC without changing the head unit. You will need to add a line-out converter and splice the 4 speaker wires from your stock radio harness to the LOC, then plug the RCA cables from the amp kit into that. |

| I'd just get some better quality speakers and put them in. Don't really need an AMP.
In fact, I'm still running the stock Delco speakers, the sound quality was much improved with my Alpine headunit over the stock Delco deck. Plus I have Bluetooth hands free, and several inputs for USB, MP3 player, etc. | |

| That would probably work. But I would upgrade the front speakers to 6.5" to start. They will give much better bass than the stock 4x6.
An amp, new 6x9 in the rear and a small sub will work wonders.
I don't see anywhere that adds the MP3 plug, unless you plan to wire that in seperately.
Honestly I would just save the stock head unit, get an MP3 head unit, new speakers, and see how that works. I believe stock speakers are 10 ohm, aftermarket are 4 ohm, so they are much more efficient.

| The aftermarket speakers often have a taller guard around the outside, and your grills may not fit over them if it is too tall. I had that happen with the White Elephant. | |

| I'll agree, Pretty decent deal, Kicker DS series is good stuff, I used them in my S10 and in my old Cavalier, both sounded great off the headunit without an amp. When I do mine I'm thinking about using all 6.5 component speakers off an amp rather than coaxials. Coaxials are a good stock replacement but the components come with a better crossover and your average person won't be able to tell the difference. | |

| Think it would be possible to use that system and still add at least a 6/8 sub speaker in the back? | |

| Sure, but you'd need a separate amp or a powered sub.
Or a nice 5-channel amp.
Many ways to skin that cat. |
