| Subject: What Header Gaskets and bolts should I get for my SLP Header install? Sun Dec 27, 2015 8:44 pm | |
| I'm ready to install the SLP headers on my 95 Caprice Wagon's LT1 and I'm looking for suggestions on what header gaskets and bolts to buy. I'd like something that will hold up and work well. My neighbor is a mechanic, so I'll let him do these as I don't have time right now. Suggestions on the gaskets and bolts? Thanks | |

| I really like the Earl's pressure master gaskets. They have been super hard to find in Canada the last few installs with 4-5 week long back orders. I used Percy's seal-4-good with good results too.
For bolts, get some stainless header bolts with a small 12-pt head from your parts store. All the major fastener companies make them.
For the cat-to-header gasket, I recommend the GM gasket if you can get it at a decent price. Several aftermarket gaskets have an opening that is too big, which will result in the gasket getting burnt up, causing an exhaust leak. I've also used the fel-pro gasket (and put it side-by-side with the GM) and the opening was the correct size.
Pretty obvious, but do the plugs and wires while you are doing the headers.
