| Been looking for a more capable tow rig for a while, finally found a decent one I could afford. 1999 GMC Suburban SLT K2500. Fully loaded with just about every option available including the Vortec 454. Needs some fixes but overall it's very solid. | |

| haha I hear ya Nick, and I am aware of your 6.5TD obsession. I did a lot of reading and research, and this is what I settled on. I paid 2k for the truck, it ran nice and smooth, good oil pressure hot. A similar diesel truck was going for 5k or needed a lot of expensive work. When you're talking diesel prices for parts triple at least. yes they get better fuel mileage but with diesel fuel being more money than gas and factoring in maintenance costs + higher resale value of diesel trucks, how many miles am I going to have to drive to start saving money? | |

| With the current gas prices I can fill up my 6.0 Yukon Denali XL for $40! It's fantastic! STAY LOW!!! | |

Not hard to figure out. Hang anything out the back of that rig and figure 6-7 MPG. Towed my TT down to Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago using a friends big block dually and went through over 250 gallons of fuel. Couldn't feed enough fuel through a fire hose fast enough to quench that beasts thirst. Even without the trailer, I was lucky to get 10-12 MPG. With a 6.5 and the same trailer, 12-14 MPG is the norm and without the appendage, no issue with 22-24 MPG. My current TV is a 6.0 Vortex Max crewcab and I get 10-11 with the trailer and over 18 without, and these are not considered economical engines. Suggest your first step is to lose the pig and do a diesel or LS swap. Will pay for itself quickly. Bill

| We'll see. I bought this truck strictly to recover parts trucks, my concern was being able to comfortably haul 3/4 ton trucks without issue. Besides it's the SFI 454, with 3.73 gears. Not a TBI 454 dually with 4.10s, I think it'll be ok. This won't be my daily driver except maybe in the winter. Suburban has been a bucket list item for me, but just not this one. If I swap anything it's going to be a 73-91 Suburban. I'm really not sure why I'm defending my decision at this point..... | |

| Nice truck. Sounds like a good find on one that isn't rusted to hell with a bunch of body damage...what I usually see on the decently prices ones at least.
Don't think that's longer than a wagon but it's definitely taller.

| Yea seems to be some sort of aftermarket add-on. Seems the original owner really cared for this truck at some point. I added the OEM Z71 tail lights. | |

| Nice door handle swap, I imagine the spoiler was added for pulling a camper or something. | |
