| So it seems I've gotten myself into a little bit of a problem.
I've had a 94 Caprice wagon for a couple years, was planning on building it up. Bought a junkyard 4l60e to get rebuilt, rebuild kit, sonnax kit, beast sunshell, yada yada. Around November I took apart the transmission, started cleaning things.
Mid November, I spy on craigslist a 100k mile 93 Roadmaster wagon. Interior is cherry, body is nice, woodgrain all there, DGGM and Tan interior (my dream setup), and a price that was hard to refuse. So now I have a 93 RMW. It's transmission is a swap from somewhere, and works fine, but again if I'm going to build up the engine (Now even more critical since I've gone from the LT1 to L05) I need to build a transmission. I'll be moving the Caprice to free up funds for the work, but gotta get my updated parts swapped over before I do.
Now, that you know the tale, what parts, if any, will swap from a 4L60e kit to the 700r4 (I know it's a 4L60 officially)? I'm pretty sure the 4L60e housing is not usable, but maybe the clutches/bands/shift kit? I don't mind eating the 4L60e as I got a great deal on it, but it would stink to not be able to use all the nice new parts I got for it that is all past the return date.
Thanks fellas! | |

| I do not know which parts are compatible, but if you are going to upgrade the engine, you might consider an LQ4 from a truck, and use the 4L60e behind it. It will cost you about the same to get that amount of HP from the LO5, and you will have a nicer ride. | |

| The LQ4 would be a nice upgrade, I'd have to keep my eyes peeled on the iaai auctions for a denali to come along I suppose. | |

| A lot of trucks have the LQ4. | |

| Math-wise it makes no sense to build a tranny and engine knowing it's only a couple grand to get the wrecked truck at auction... well, looks like I'll have some transmission bits to sell.
Thanks Fred! | |

| You usually get a 4L80 with an LQ4. The 4L60e will fit better in the wagon, and your upgrade will make it stay together. The LQ4s at the u-pull-it junk yard are only about $700 including the computer and harness, and yes they do show up. You do not have to deal with the rest of the truck. | |

| Wow, that is cheaper than I expected. Hell a good pair of heads is more than that! Time to start squirreling away the pennies and making friends at the U-pull-it The missus will be most pleased with the news that i'll be saving money | |
