| I searched the topics but couldn't find an answer - - - I found a set of Impala wheels but not sure they will fit. They are 9.5 wide, 17", and currently have 255/50R17 tires on them. Does anyone know, will these fit the rear of my 96 RMW? The front shouldn't be an issue? | |

| Highly popular mod. Probably more wagons on SS Wheels than Impalas these days. | |

| They are 8.5 not 9.5, and yes, they fit. | |

| I was afraid they would be too wide. They're on. Close fit on the back but they did fit. Thanx | |

| If you lower the car more than an inch or so, and cut the bump stops, they will not fit on the front. The use of drop spindles will move the wheels outward 3/8 of an inch, and they will hit the wheelhouse. | |

| So Fred, your suggesting I don't lower it? That's exactly what I had in mind. | |

| If you are going to lower it, I would suggest that you only lower it to the height of the SS. The tires will fit at that height. Beyond that, I can not say for sure they will fit. If you cut the bump stops, the suspension will be able to move upward further, and possibly hit the wheelhouse.
I am going to put the ZQ9 bump stops on mine, because the originals were cut, and I am having issues with rubbing at extreme deflection. I may even take a body hammer to the wheelhouse where it is shiny. The 215s that I am running on the front are the lower limit of what can be put on the car safely. I would like to put at least 225s on the front. I have 255s on the rear, and suspect that I have an issue with understeer at speed. | |

| My SS is much lower than stock SS height and has run a 275 on the front for at least 15 years. Go ahead and lower your wagon. | |

| They will fit. Go ahead and lower it. 22x9.5s and lowered on springs and spindles.... your 17s will be fine. | |

| How tall are your tires. That makes a difference as well. I have 27 inch tires. Stock is 28. Some have run 26 inch tires that are wider. | |

| R&B, I believe you do not have front wheelhouses, IIRC. | |

| Thanx for the info Fred. It'll be a while before I do it. Gonna spend my lunch/mad money on a trip to Amelia Island. | |

| Correct. No front wheelhouses - but they still fit with some minor trimming if I want them. I just elected to go without them for aesthetics. | |

| I believe they will not fit if you were to install the wheelhouses. I have drop spindles and about one inch of spring drop, and the largest tires I can run are 215/60/17s on Impala rims. | |
