I'd like to BS all of you and tell you I fixed my driver door window roller in 30 mins, but that didn't happen. Try 2 hrs.
The forward-most roller was broken, and despite trying other things first, I drilled out the end stop rivet and bent back the crimped frame rail so that I could beat the little roller into submission. Clamping the ball into the roller wasn't too bad, but one sure needs a handy selection of C clamps to find one that fits best.
My question is, do I need to replace the rivet with a nut n bolt, or pop rivet? I looked really carefully and nowhere in the window travel does the ball come close to that end. Before I put the door panel back on, I thought I'd ask. Because I don't want to ever remove this one again.
Thanks to those concerned for posting the amazing pictures of this procedure, that gave me the encouragement to try this again. I do remember fixing one in a rear door of my old 94 RMW but I sure don't recall (maybe 12 yrs ago) it being this much of a pain...
