Aftermarket oil pan fitment Empty
PostSubject: Aftermarket oil pan fitment   Aftermarket oil pan fitment Icon_minitimeSun May 19, 2019 8:02 pm

Building a very hot stroker LT1, with nitrous and oil squirters under the pistons. Therefore, i went with an aftermarket louvered windage tray to help strip excess oil off the stroker crank. The issue now is that the windage tray and its studs don't fit under the factory pan. Looking at the crossmember with the steering damper and flexible lines, it looks like a deeper pan would be tough to fit. Does anybody have info on the deepest aftermarket pan that will fit without serious surgery on the crossmember? Looks like the damper could be relocated fairly easily.

Thanks!

Tom

There are some pans with built in windage trays. If you can measure the clearance, you may be able to weld the windage tray to the oil pan.

The point of using a block-mounted tray is that you can set the clearances much tighter to the crank for better scavenging and it doesn't need a huge hole for the oil pickup. Trying to avoid a pan-mounted tray if at all possible since there is going to be a LOT of oil splashing around due to the oil squirters under the piston heads :/
