Need VATS help. Empty
PostSubject: Need VATS help.   Need VATS help. Icon_minitimeSat Aug 24, 2019 5:26 pm

Hello,

My resistor on the key is fine. I can read the resistance at the Body Control Module.

The starter did not engage. I bypassed the VATS relay to the starter. The starter will now engage.

I checked for the pulsed ground signal at the ECM. I get 0 volts at the pin.

I built a 50 hz. PWM signal and applied to the ECM pin that is supposed to come from the body control module. The signal gets grounded out by the ECM.

The engine turns very slowly and does not start. The fuel pump turns on. I have 40 psi for fuel pressure. I believe the injectors are not turning on related to the PWM signal.

Any ideas?

Fighting a similar situation right now. Car will start and run for about a second, then die. Getting a code 46 (something to do with Passkey fuel enable, I can't remember exactly). I purchased a Newrockies bypass unit and still no go as of now. Been trying to get in touch with tech support, haven't heard back from them in 2 days, and when I did hear from them it was only later in the evening (via email).

I tried one of these.

https://www.amazon.com/Timers-Shop-PASSkey-Bypass-Module-Painless/dp/B074YZ6XPM/ref=asc_df_B074YZ6XPM/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312061179754&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6255891545330232629&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016904&hvtargid=pla-571349616461&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61856009413&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312061179754&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6255891545330232629&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016904&hvtargid=pla-571349616461

It is supposed to send the correct pulse width modified signal to the ECM. It did give the correct signal as claimed but it burned out in about 20-30 seconds. The pin on the ECU is supposed to get a square wave pulse at about 50hz. When I connected this thing it just burned out. Never had a chance to even see what happened. I built my own circuit to give the required pulse. It works just like the part in the link. However, it does not burn out but that particular pin on my ECU is shorted to ground I believe.

I see the unit you bought is listed for $259.00. I have the factory service manual with diagrams. What help do you need to see if your unit works?

Simple fix. Disable VATS in the PCM and disconnect/jumper the module plug under the dash..

Requires a free program a laptop most everyone already has and a few bucks for a cable. MUCH less than any $260 bandaid.

Read through this and bookmark the website.

i didn't see anything about what software to use or how to use it in the link. I have seen a few things written about disabling the VATS in the ECM. However, nothing was very detailed.

I said bookmark the site for a reason Wink A quick look around would lead you to this....

I found this link:

Maybe I can find some help there.

Yes, I bought the expensive band-aid. I do have a FSM, but what I don't have is time....but it's taking time anyway lol! . So the unit is being sent back and the VATS will be tuned out of the computer (under dash relay has already been jumped).
