From what I can tell my sending unit lines are rotted. Wont know how bad the main lines are til I can drop tank. What are my options if the ends of lines are rotted? Never had this problem before n I've lived in Ohio my whole life.

If bad on the sender side, replace sender. If the connectors or lines are bad on the car side, there are repair ends at any parts shop. Two different sizes (pressure and return) as well as the rubber vapour line.

Thanks. I'll try to drop the tank this week if weather holds out. Almost 20° drop n storm after bein mid 60s **** ain't workin with me. From what I can see under car the lines are rusty as hell. The lines on body dont have any metal parts do they? I cant remember.

The lines are a plastic material, but the connectors are metal.

I did pick up one a few months back to do vette dress so I'm good there. Thanks for the pic. I think my connectors may be rotted from your pic but I'll know for sure when I get at it. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Msgd girl at parts store. She looked up some numbers and is gettin me the dorman tool shipped in without the connectors and box. Saved over $100 n I'll just grab the fittings while I'm there. Even gettin her discount too. Just have to wait for the tool to be shipped from dorman.

Original lines are no longer available, and I wouldn't waste any time putting old nylon in. I'd cut the line and put a new end on it. You can buy 5/16" and 3/8" fittings and there are tools that can shove them into the existing lines (definitely put them in boiling hot water for a bit beforehand). If you can't do it, have it towed to a shop that can do it.

I'm actually seriously thinking about running all new lines in my wagon just to prevent a fuel leak and fire.

Ok I think the Roadbastard is good to go... somewhat. Got new pump n unit installed and found these fuel line unions from dorman. They're push type. First try I had a cut in line above union so still leaked. Cut again and installed a new one and so far so good. Fuel light is on too so I may be low or may have (edit) up my sending unit. I'll put couple gallons in tmrw to verify.

Edit: added fuel and needle didnt move. I hate doin pumps. I dont think I'm gonna mess with it again.

Ok guess it was emptier than I thought... and I was slightly drunk. Took almost 4 gallons for it to finally move. Get insurance set up n run uptown to top off tank. Love these big cars for roadtrips... just not dirt roads.

Incase anyone is curious these are the connectors I used. Was I think $8 for a pair at advance. Sorry for crap quality pic. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Those are the best solution, mark the insertion end with tape so you KNOW they went in all the way home. And grease the tubing. Dont bother with pressing new fittings, likely to be very frustrating experience.  Dorman sells a short section of tubing with a new end already pressed in.
For these cars, tubing is 3/8 coming from pump, return line is 5/16

I got it all from O'reiley . You can also buy all new tubing on a roll.
