Subject: Saw a youtube video and I'll be at Wagonfest 2011! New guy... Thu Aug 05, 2010 12:35 am
Hi guys, I've been a subscriber to Moldymac and Lynolsoffice for awhile now on Youtube and was just messing around online tonight and watched Moldymac's tire blow out video from Wagonfest 2010. At first I was like... wagonfest... what is that. Then I watched the video and immediately thought that I have to go next year.
Anyway, a little about me... I'm a 26 year old computer nerd turned small business owner and have always loved Buick wagons. My dad had a 1989 Electra Estate wagon forever (along with 7 other cars in the family). Myself and my 2 brothers learned to drive in it and was by far the car that we all drove the most. We did some stuff in it that although my dad laughs at today would have had him giving us the belt back then.... I've always had a soft spot for the full size Buicks and when I saw the video on Youtube I told myself that in the next 12 months I have to get one and drive it to Wagonfest 2011.
Few questions... I know most people have the newer style 1991.5 to 1996s... would a 1989 or so be acceptable? Hahah... I like the "squareness" of those but I'll see what I can find.
I have a small but growing automotive collection and can't wait to start my search for my wagon, and we'll see you at Wagonfest 2011!!!
First up is my 2006 Z06 Corvette. It's a Katech Street Attack, pushing 660HP N/A. Next is my 2006 GTO, also heavily modified by Katech in Michigan. They make the engines for the C6RS race Corvettes that you see everywhere. Next is my 1987 Grand National. It's almost done... a 2 year journey. It started as a basketcase but now has a pretty much 100% new parts including complete modern Hotchkiss suspension, Recaro seating, and an enormous amount of horsepower. Next is my daily driver, Ford F150, completely stock . And my latest project, a 1990 Chevy 454SS. I'm building a 572ci motor for it. It's about half done... 12 to 1 compression and will run on E85 (110 octane) ethanol pump gas Mostly a drag race truck but it will be semi-streetable. Sorry the only picture I have currently is the corner of it from a picture I took of a fan...

Welcome aboard.
I'm looking to throw WF11 here in Flint, MI during the same weekend as the Woodward Dream Cruise. If you want to bring a wagon, bring ANY wagon you want. If you don't have one by then - do NOT stay home. Bring whatever you want, no matter where it is.
Sweet fan, BTW.

I spy a very VERY sexy Brazen Orange GTO...
Me want. Welcome to the forums. We're all pretty crazy, but we grow on you.

That'd be kind of cool, I have a lot of relatives in Michigan and would probably take one of the other cars for the cruise though.
And the fan is actually kinda junk, it's brand new and the "hi" setting doesn't work.

Wow. How much does the GTO put down to the pavement? That's an awesome sounding beast.
Maybe you can add a supercharged wagon to your stable.

Just so you know, whenever we get together for a Wagonfest, we all let each other take turns driving our vehicles.... hahah j/k. well, sorta.
Nice fleet, and nice to see a small business owner enjoy himself.

Welcome and great collection so far!
While we specialize in the "bubble body" wagons here, all are welcome and surely accepted. Take a look at our WagonFest10 pics and you'll see a beautiful old Buick which showed up rather unexpectedly.

Welcome aboard! That was my video you spoke of (youtube user moldymac). If you can make it to the fest, bring whatever you have. Nothing wrong with a boxy wagon.

LOVE the GTO. I've always wanted one. The Grand National is awesome too.
Growing up my folks had an 86 Estate wagon. Was a pretty car but the 307 smoked at 20K miles. Fill the oil and check the gas! ; )
Welcome!

About 450 to the wheels.
I was talking to the guys that are doing my big block and they were toying with the idea of a nitrous motor for a wagon... plenty of room for some tanks in the back. That way you could stay stealthy... you can hear that the GTO is blown a mile away with the whine. I love the sound and wouldn't trade it for anything, but I think a stock sounding/appearing Roadmaster with a built motor and spray would be a riot.

Awesome... I love tractorland. Is Lynol on here at all? How's his house going?

The only people that have driven it besides me are my dad and Andy Pilgrim (one of the GM race team drivers). The 1-2 shift at 70 and the 2-3 shift at 125 will break the tires loose so it's hard to let just anyone drive it.

He is on here from time to time, his username is just "lynol" His house is coming along, he should have an update video of that soon. You should also check out my wagonfest video from last year of the line up for the "family picture". That will give you a good sense of the magnitude of the event. And of course, don't forget to look at the pics from this year's fest here.
