WAGONFEST NEW YORK 2021

Here we go!  Enough of you are stir crazy and ready to drive to Seneca Lake State Park in July https://parks.ny.gov/parks/125/hunting.aspx.  This event has traditionally occurred over a weekend, and has included a daily meet up of the car at the lakeside park.  People start arriving on Friday afternoon/evening, and sometimes we have group activities like a trip to drive the cars on the racetrack at Watkins Glen.  Saturday is the "main event", which by popular demand consists of sitting at the lakefront park, a beautiful spot, and having a day-long car viewing, bullshit session, and picnic.  We go out for dinner, sometimes together, and have been know to hunt down local wineries (there are over 100), craft breweries (too many to count), or ice cream.

Tom will report here on a block of hotel rooms, but you are on your own to arrange your lodgings.  Don't delay, as this place is likely to fill up fast as vaccination rates increase and NY reopens to a much greater degree in the next few weeks.

Can't wait to attend. This will be our first Wagonfest even though I've owned this car going on 4 years now. My son is super excited. Looking forward to attending

Unfortunately, blackout days for Drive the Glen span the entire period of Wagonfest this year. So, no night on the track at Watkins Glen this year. But, we can organize a short drive around the area if enough people want to do so. In the past, some folks have quite enough driving just getting here, and they just like hanging out at the lake and not driving a lot more.

I'm out - I'll be driving back from Iowa that weekend. I'll be in my '95 DGGM wagon though, so I'll be thinking about you all. Cheers to everyone and I hope to see you in 2022!

Daytona was really small too, we capped out around 11 or 12 total. Next year will be better

What a shame, I'd love to go but I have a prior commitment that weekend. I'm only four hours away too.

I'll be there nonetheless. I'll probably bring a fishing rod and some beer and get there about 6:30 AM.

What time do people usually start showing up on Saturday?

I'll be there early; probably before 7:30. Some folks roll in at 9-ish. Just about everyone who is going to show up is there by 10. If you get to the park before 8, you don't have to pay the entrance fee because the attendant arrives around 8:30. The Park is open at sunrise and closes around 9PM. Bring charcoal or a gas grill if you like, because most folks have a picnic lunch at the lake. There are picnioc tables and charcoal grills at the park.

Go in the main park entrance road off of US Rt5&20, and then turn RIGHT on the lakefront road and head towards the lakefront hotel. The wagons will assemble near the end of the lakefront road after the right turn, just a short distance down the shore from where you turn onto the lakefront road.

just got in the door. was nice seeing old friends and some new faces. will post some pics later. Hopefully next year will be a better turn out.

Made it 1st time. Did manage to learn a bit more about these cars. My wife really enjoyed it, she wants to do the Florida event in March. That should happen.
