Subject: 1991 OCC new owner. Say hello to Blue Bertha Tue Mar 22, 2022 10:53 pm
Back story, friend of ours bought this last year. Last month he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in a few short weeks. His widow agreed to sell me “Blue Bertha” because she knew I would take care of her.
1991 Olds Custom Cruiser. She was painted somewhere along the line… hood replaced or at least ornament hole filled… currently has a Caprice grill but the original OCC one was in the back so I may freshen it up and install it. Haven’t decided.
It’s lowered and on old school drag wheels.. I love the stance and look.
He had the interior redone (first and second rows) and headliner , but never got to drive it since the interior work. It needs some tlc here and there but for an old cruiser with 149k miles, she’s not bad. Handles like a drunk elephant and you do tend to find some expansion joints and bumps - but I daily drive a 2500HD Denali so it doesn’t bother me.
Anyway, here she is with a fresh bath. Took a couple of weeks to find a transport company from TN to TX but she got here today .

Looks nice, I would put the OCC grille back on. I've had a few OCCs over the years and also had one with the cladding painted the body color (not a stock option) and liked it (mine was red).
Glad you are able to be the steward for the car in your friend's honor. I'm sure you will cherish it.
Of the 3 '91s I've had, two of them had over 275K on them, so there is alot of life left in the old girl.

Nice looking ride and with TLC there should be a lot of life left. I understand that the 91 OCC is the rarest of the breed. I recently did a write up on the grill ornament in the Paint, Body and Glass section of this forum if you decide to put the original grill back.

Beautiful wagon, body color cladding makes them look so much better.

The 96 Caprice is the rarest, followed by the 92 OCC, and the 91 OCC.

Did you cap off the EGR tube when you removed it from the header. If not it will suck fresh air into the intake manifold that is unmetered.

The LO3 does not have an EGR tube like the LT1. There is a check valve on the manifold. The exhaust would not suck air into a tube, it would blow exhaust gas out of it, or they would not need a pump.
