Wagon Fest New York 2023 - July 22

Why that particular weekend, and why now?  Are you aiming for Cruise Night in Geneva?  That can be a moving target.  Last year I set the date based on the announced one for Cruise Night, and then the organizers (Geneva BID) moved it about 5 weeks before Wagonfest NY 2022.  As far as I know, the date for Cruise Night 2023 has not yet been decided.  The Wagonfest event is usually towards the end of July, and I'm available any of those weekends.  I'm not a big fan of Cruise Night, as it's run for the benefit of the downtown bars, as it puts a lot of alcohol and young kids on the streets. In the past there have been some issues with puking-drunk twerps interacting with the classic car owners (Dude, I just wanted a picture of my girl on your hood.  Why are you so hostile?).  Still, its not always that way and I understand why others might want to check it out.  However, I've never seen a date for Wagonfest set 8 months in advance, but that's not to say it can't be done.

I would also like to see wagonfest and cruise night overlap.

We can only try. The dates are not yet nailed down for Cruise Night, nor is it even certain that there will be a Cruise Night in 2023. As Mom says: "we'll see".

I have emailed the Geneva Business Improvement District asking about dates for cruise night 2023. If/when they reply, I will share here.

you think they would know most people book a year out. they always seem like, they forget every year. lol

The Canal Corp has not posted the schedule of dates for critical dates. How old is the canal?
You would think in 200 years we would have this figured out.

I just saw that on Sunday July 30 Geneva is having their beer 5k run. Just like they had last year. So I would guess they want have car show that weekend. There is no mention of car show as of yet. I found this out by googling Geneva events for july 2023.

WFNY has always been the 4th weekend in July. There are a few long term members that plan vacations for that weekend every year. I'm not saying it can't be changed, but the tradition is strong. There still seems to be no info on Geneva's Cruise Night Date.
This year July has 5 Saturdays & Sundays, so technically it should be Saturday, July 22nd.

Should we just try and nail down a date at this point? I don't want to wait to long and then can't get reservations. Should we vote? I would think for those who want to hold hope for the car show it would not be the 30th with the 5 k run on that weekend.

I'm fine with picking the weekend of July 22nd now. It was a fools errand last year when we tried to sync Wagonfest with Cruise Night. Car shows come and go, but Wagonfest comes but once a year.

I'm fine with the 22nd. Does that sound good to everyone else?

I'm considering making a summer vacation trip for my son and I out of this with the Roadmaster.

Hit up some friends in Michigan, stop at the Henry Ford Museum, check out Niagara Falls and then Wagon Fest (not necessarily in that order ).

Agreed that setting a date soon will help in planning.

Can someone list out the typical events/logistics?

I can provide some background for newbies to Wagonfest.

The persons coordinating the event have changed over the years since we started. I've tried to herd the cats the last few years. We have, in the past, rented one of the tents or pavilions in the park. The general consensus was that this was not necessary. Also, in the past one of the senior members of the group also reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn in Waterloo, but now people seem to want to handle lodging on their own.

That greatly simplifies the logistics. We agree on a date and time, and I get to the lake at around 6:30 AM and claim our spot (I live in Geneva, about 1 mile from the park).

The mob generally self-sorts into groups that like the same restaurants for dinners and other meals. We cook out on Saturday, and many of us bring extra food and beverages to share.

I'll again put out a call for a run of a herd at Watkins Glen if the track is open and we get at least five wagons that want to try it. We generally do that early Friday evening/late Friday afternoon. I don't know if the track will be available. If it is, I post it here.

That's about all there is to organizing Wagonfest. We could go for a drive around the area as a group, but a lot of people drive all day to get here. However, I'm game if a group wants a short tour of farm country and local landmarks.

Any hotel/lodging recommendations?

We are staying at - not cheap - but nice 41 LAKEFRONT HOTEL, suprisingly, at 41 lakefront drive in Geneva

41 Lakefront is within $50 (or less) of most anything else around there (~$300/night).

Hoping for something in the $100/night range that doesn't require fumigation before entering the room. Maybe those days are in the past now...?

May be a little late, but someone could google 'group rate for hotels' and pick one of them.
In Daytona I use it every year to compare, but we usually call the same hotel and the manager knows us and gives us a competitive rate for a block of rooms. people then call in and reference Wagonfest to get the group rate. I think is was about $15 a night less this year.

I never have to front any money and usually we go over the 15 rooms they set aside for us (they honor the price on the additional rooms).

Microtel Inn and Suites in Seneca Falls is a place where many have stayed in the past for Wagonfest. It's only a few miles away, and prices are much lower that the Lakefront Hotel

I'm looking for a PCM for a 1996 Caprice ('96 only).

I have a set of four 15" OEM wheels for a '96 Fleetwood (brushed, not mirror chrome). If anyone is interested, I'll bring them along.

The local boneyard is Trout's in Waterloo.   They once had a few 91-96 B-body wagons, but the last of them were crushed 2 years ago.  They "might" have a sedan or two from the same era. I'd call before planning a trip there: (315) 789-5742.

i wanted to do some stuff to my wagon for wf but to much going on at home. Next weekend will be just cleaning it up, as long as it doesn't rain. I do have some parts i would sell if anyone wants them. I have rear hatch glass with defrost $50.00 I also have both rear wagon doors for non wood caprice. They have no rust but do have a little dent on each one from leaning on each other. $50.00 each door. i can get picks if anyone wants them. I will only bring items for you to see, if you are interested in them. So if are interested let me know.

Any interest in a wagon part out? You know the one. Thursday, Friday, Sunday? turn it into a party... Might make it a little easier to let her go. I have a good amount of parts stashed away, and I price things more than fair.

Does anyone have a driver's door panel for a 96 or a rear passenger window motor? Ive had mine now for a little while, but aside from fixing the passkey and initial frame rot, I've not done much.
