If you want to get better brakes, install Hydroboost. You can get the hoses from Rock Auto, and you need to use a flat plate adapter, Hydroboost wrench, and a filler washer for the actuating rod.

I think this question is a bit open ended as has a solution already determined, but we don't know the reason why the conversion to all, and larger capacity, disc brakes is desired.

It could be for many different, all appropriate, reasons.

* Reduced fade from high speed stopping, heavy loads, or whatever other reason.

* Reduced pedal effort under heavy braking or braking with heavy loads

* Improved wear of pads and/or shoes

* Improved appearance though the more open style wheels.

* Any other reasons.

The solutions to each could be different, particularly in the hydoboost vs bigger and all disc comparisons.

It is also possible that some of the issues could be handled with just pad/shoe material quality changes.

You want bigger because the factory brakes on these cars are laughable and undersized.

Kore3.com

Though if you want bigger brakes you need bigger wheels. At least 17 inch.

Dear Mr. 94Woody and Mr. booster.... Good day to both of you. Thankx for your replies.... I already have
17-inch wheels on it. I'll be 80 in a couple of months' time. I am looking for the wow! factor.... So! I
think new disc brakes all around would be cool. Any chance on getting names of companies who make
brake conversion kits for these RMW. Thankx

Ye, the original parts are mighty ugly through wheels with a lot open area.

I am not into cleaning up rotors and calipers all the time so we went with 17" aluminum Rally wheels that have much less open area than most wheels.

Gotta admit that the painted calipers and drilled and slotted rotors look nice, but I know mine would never look very good once past a couple of weeks.  This is my retirement car and is summer driven only, but it still gets dirty with frequent driving on daily driver type use.

Yes. I Gave you one in my first reply. Kore3. The other two are Baer and TCE. Kore are cheapest and Baer are most expensive.

I will be going with Kore3 when I do mine. Bought new 17" wheels with plenty of clearance. They use repurposed Corvette parts, calipers, redrilled rotors, etc along with the proper mounts and such. The others use Wilwood parts and other custom stuff. Smallest setups use the 17" wheels while the bigger stuff requires 18" wheels.

I am putting Wilwood 12.88 inch rotors on my fronts with 17 inch wheels, and eventually Impala rears on the back. I have drop spindles on my car, and will not be using the standard spindles drilled and tapped for the Wilwood caliper mounts that I got with the brakes. The standard spindles are available. Almost everyone is really expensive when you get larger brakes. You can plan on spending $1000+ for the front brakes. The Hydroboost will get you some really good brake feel. If you are doing this on a 94-96 the hoses for the diesel Oldsmobiles may not fit. One between the Hydroboost and the power steering pump will, but the one from the pump to the Hydroboost will not. You can use a T or Y to tie the returns to the single hose on the reservoir.

ISSF user Navy Lifer put together a wagon rear disc conversion a number of years ago. It is well engineered; He has about 8 sets left. It is slightly cheaper than the Kore3 conversion. If you want his email, send me a PM.
