| Well I'm glad the car was perfect on my weekend trip. Before I tear into this, thought I'd see if anyone had a similar issue. I started the car and drove out of the parking lot, turned onto the main road and had gone about a block and the Check Engine light came on. Car running fine, but then I noticed the air was no longer blowing cold.
Pulled over and popped the hood, and the compressor is off. Had no time to look further, went to lunch and just got back. Blower works, radio works, all lights work, car running fine. No signs of oil sling around the compressor. Hmmmm.
I did do a quick look at the fuses on the side of the dash and nothing looked blown. I know the relay for the compressor is under the hood, but have not checked there yet.
Thoughts? Anyone had this happen or am I just the lucky one? I know with OBDII everything is connected...
Thanks in advance for any tips!

| I tightened the gas cap at lunch and the light went out on my way home tonight. Ok then....that never worked before but I'll take it.
Have not looked at the a/c compressor yet. Was still in shock that the light went out by itself..... | |

| Mike its happened to my parents cars twice and my brothers girlfriends car once. When a normal running car suddenly has a CEL,the first thing I check is the gas cap.Easy to do and fast and if it works I look like a mechanical wizard. Seriously it is the first thing I check and it does happen a lot. Jim Gordon |

| Just came in from the garage. The a/c compressor kicks on fine now. CE light is still off. Not sure how the two things might be tied together, but I sure hope they are, and it was just a loose gas cap. I don't need a "ghost in the machine" in my Roady.
Fingers are crossed!

| Mike the reason people are gasping and pointing is the fact that your engine is cleaner than most peoples homes.I need a favor when you get a chance.Would you please measure the overall length of your oil dipstick and your transmission dipstick. Both of mine are reading a little goofy. Just want to be careful. So far very impressed with this 95 compared to the 91.Seems to ride better and is much quieter.Sure is great to drive as the power is effortless and never seems to be straining as you accelerate.I quess 90 hp and 100ft lbs of torque really do make a difference. WOW Thanks Jim Gordon |

| I had a similiar issue with the LDM. Twice last summer the ac just quit. The service engine light never came on but obd1 is a lot more tolerant. I scanned it and it said something along the lines of cylinder head pressure too high. I can't remember the exact code. I let a little pressure off and it worked fine. The second time I put a cheap guage on and the pressure was way high. I released some and it's been fine ever since. Maybe since you were in the ac business you would know what causes this. I haven't added any coolant for a couple years.

| It was cleaner under the hood then...I'd just installed the rail covers. Need to dive under there and knock the dust off. Been driven a lot since then. Time to detail it again.
And Jon, normally a/c will loose a little pressure over time. The only time I really saw high pressure was if there was a blockage in the system. Those cheap gauges lie a lot too. To check these you really need a good set. 134A pretty much has to be right on to cool correctly. R12 was great, it could be low or high and still cool.
I'm still boggled how the Check Engine light and A/C compressor are tied together. But it hasn't acted up again....hopefully it won't!
