The kiddo and I went to the Freddy's Car Show in Pflugerville (pronounced Floogerville...lots of Germans here) today and had a great time. Lots of neat cars, and I entered the wagon in judging....but didn't win anything...they have no taste I guess..ha!
Some of the regulars from the Sat night show were there, but there were lots of cars I hadn't seen before. The weather was perfect, mid 70's, and the kiddo and I ate frozen custard cones and looked at cars and visited with folks. Nice afternoon!
Here's the pics! Welcome to Pflugerville!

As always Mike great cars and some truly wonderful pictures to go along with them. Its great that you take the time to spend with your son and hopefully teach him to love and appreciate these wonderful old cars. With any luck at all when he has kids of his own and internal combustion cars are outlawed, he will teach them about the wonders of all the great wagons and cars that his dad has owned in the past. A Great Thank You For the Pics Jim Gordon

Thanks as always for the kind words Jim. I know all these show pics are a little off topic, but they sure are fun and as always I figure the real car nuts on here will like seeing them.
My oldest son Eddie..8.. enjoys going to the shows with me. He likes cars, and likes taking pics. He's a 4x4 nut though, so I see a K5 Blazer rebuild in my future in a few years. He LOVES those.
My youngest son Tucker..2...is already infected with the car bug. When in the Cutlass he points to the roof and says "T-tops Daddy!", and the wagon is "Daddy's Boo-ick" He also loves standing in the driver's seat and "driving" the GTO, so hopefully in a few years he's want to get his hands dirty on that project with me.
I don't yet take Tuck to the car shows with me, because he wants to touch all the cars. Does not go ever well with the owners when a 2-year-old put grimy prints all over their show car babies. I'll be able to take him soon enough.
Anyway again glad you liked the pics, and everyone please keep posting you own pics. I love seeing them all!

Texas is badass.
That's about all there is to say. Every show you go to has some insanely nice cars.

Shoot Florida has tons of awesome cars too doesn't it? I've got a buddy that has business there a lot and he always manages to find cool car meets.
Austin does have a good car culture. In talking to some of the the natives at the meets, what you saw in the movie Dazed and Confused is pretty acurate. Lots of cruising and racing back in the day.
Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio all have some awesome car culture. Houston and Dallas have so many cars it's amazing. San Antonio is more specialized, but nothing rusts there...zero.
Oh and yes the Top Notch is still in business and makes a great burger. And the blue Superbird that's in the movie for about 10-seconds is still here and comes to the saturday night car meets often. Fun stuff!
Gimme two chili dogs and a malt!

Yeah, we've got some cool stuff too. I actually found a car show on accident yesterday when I went to buy a new cell phone. The store I went to was in a huge plaza, and I noticed a few classics driving around but didn't think much of it. While they were fixing my phone I walked outside and saw a boatload of cars and walked around.
Highlights of the show for me were a '67 427 Corvette convertible with EIGHT THOUSAND unrestored original miles, a '67 Chevelle/Malibu wagon painted satin black (delicious...), and an '84 Cutlass Salon with T-tops, but the guy who owned it was retarded. I noticed his rockets on his fenders were upside down, so I asked him and he said "No they're not." (his C-pillar rockets were upside down too, actually..) and I was like "There's probably a reason all the ones in the interior look different from the ones on the outside. Just sayin'." and left. Didn't get any pics though, my phone was in the shop.

That's funny about the emblems. Had a friend in high school with a Cutlass Ciera and his door emblem popped off and he glued it on upside down. I pointed out that his rocket was crashing and got a blank stare. He had no idea that emblem WAS a rocket. Of course an Iron Duke Tech 4 Ciera might as well of had a crashing rocket as it's symbol....
If they'd gone back to trying to be the Rocket division, they might have lived. Names like Rocket 88, Starfire, Firenza, Jetstar, Jetfire, Hurst Olds... they sounded exciting. They came the Calais, Alero, and 10,000 different Cutlass models....and what the hell is an Acheiva???....just sounds stupid...it's no wonder they lost all their customers...
Too bad you didn't get pics. Sounds like a good meet!

I got a few, but they all look like crap. Here's one story and photo I thought was crazy....
This guy pulls up in a nicely restored '57 Chevy as I'm walking around. He parks in the spot next to me and revs it a bit, I give him a thumbs up and compliment him on his nice looking vehicle. He looks pissed off and says "No it isn't so nice anymore..." and he points to this tiny dent in the hood that sort of looks like a hole. I ask what happened and he pops the hood. The alternator blade thing self destructed and flew off while the motor was running, and lodged itself in his inner fender:
Also in true Roo fashion, here's an orange 442. The rest of the photos look like crap.
EDIT: Correction, the rest of the photos look crappier than those two. My old phone is terrible at capturing photos.

Holy cow! I've never seen one of those fly off like that!
And that Cutlass 442 is GORGEOUS.
When I was born my parents drove me home from the hospital in Dad's dark brown 72 Cutlass Supreme notchback coupe. Rocket 350, buckets, floor shift and Super Stock II's. I'm one of the few people who can say they've been riding in Oldsmobiles since birth.
This is a twin of my Dad's old car. It's exactly the same down to the colors, except ours had the body color "bullet" door mirrors. Wish he'd held onto that one!

I was brought home in an '87 Grand National.
