| One of the service techs where I work just wrecked a '03 3500 Chevy Express van this morning. 204,000 miles, $3,500 in damage, so the shop isn't fixing, should be stupid cheap. I don't know how involved it is to swap it into a '94 RMW, but if it's not too expensive it should be a fun ride. I've got first dibs on the van so we'll see were it goes from here.... Lord willing.

| Mike I really hope you get it.Man that motor is so strong bone stock and so ridiculously easy to make 450 HP.Simple cam swap puts you at an easy 400 hp and still makes 20lbs of vaccuum. My fingers are crossed for you Mike. Best of Luck Jim Gordon |

| My father-in-law has that engine in his 2002 Silverado HD1500 crew-cab. His has 176,000 on it, still runs super with tons of power, and will still tow anything. Great engine.
Nice score!! | |

| I've got a friend using those mounts and headers and pan and all, and it's not as "bolt in" as you'd think. He's had nothing but problems with them. So far, BRP has been working with him, but it's still a huge PITA. Hopefully they get things straightened out shortly. | |

| I say use Hooker motor mounts and "Speed & Performance"sfront drive accessories and brackets.Forget BRP as they are too darn high compared to the others. My 2 Cents Jim Gordon |

| As much fun as my wagon would be with the 6.0, I can't justify doing the swap right now. So, I'm going to sell the combo in a few months when the weather improves, and little league winds down. I've been doing a lot of reading on LS swaps, and it just isn't in the cards for me right now. Oh well, we have 18 other trucks with 6.0's in the fleet at work so I'll get another chance later down the road. | |

| Just an FYI, the 6.0 in my father-in-law's 2002 Silverado has had piston-slap FOREVER. When it was at about 20K miles the truck started tapping at start-up. It goes away pretty fast, but he was worried and took it to the dealer. The dealer said that was normal on these engines.
Well nearly 200K miles and it's still running great, and uses no oil. Still taps on start up. Ha!
Reminds me of my '85 Pontiac Grand Prix with the Chevy 305, and my 93 S-10 with the 4.3. Both those engines puffed one ball of smoke on startup and then ran smooth and fine, and used no oil, as long as I owned them. Chevy valve seats. Not worth the effort to fix them. ; )

| Ok, this may sound a tad dumb to you guys, but I resold the van to another co-worker for the same price I bought it for.... $100.00. He is going to start an LS swap in his '70 Chevelle that he already has a single turbo set up for it. He offered more, but I didn't feel right about it because he could have bought the van as easily as me. We have 18 other GM trucks and vans with LS motors and suspect drivers in them. My time will come around again. Here is his Chevelle at NYIRP [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| In California that swap would never fly. Cant put an engine from a larger load bearing vehicle. We would need to swap in an LS from a car. | |

Oh go hug a tree! We got emissions testing in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio about 4 years ago. Sucks cause inspections went from $10 to $25, what a joke! If I go one county away it's still a $10 "flash your signals, beep the horn, high-low beam, and parking brake" test. They don't even open the hood. Makes me want to move out to the hill contry even more. Cars 25 years and older are exempt. My 88 Cutlass came from the hill country, so it's never been smogged. The inspection is up in July, and I'm already dreading it..... Every time the greenies come up with a new law it just costs us all money and frustration, period. Rant over.... -Mike | |

| Dad says FL used to have inspections sometime in the 80s, but they were crooked and people raged about it so they stopped doing it. |

| My buddy Ben gave me a hard time about having to pay for inspections when I moved to Texas, because in New Jersey they are state run and there is not a fee to go through the station. I then reminded him that Texas has no state income tax. Hehehe. | |

| Here in CT there is no visual inspection, just emissions every 2 years. One the vehicle hits 25, your exempt and can do whatever you want to it. | |
