| Hello everyone, I am new to this site as I just purchased a 1996 RMW. I've had this car for about a month and I really enjoy driving this car. This is my fourth wagon I have owned. My first being a 1987 Nissan Sentra wagon. Followed by a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice wagon. Then a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria wagon, a 1990 Chevy Suburban and now finally the 1996 Buick Roadmaster wagon. I've been looking for about a year waiting for the right one to come along. She is black with the wood delete option and has 79,000 miles. She was purchased new by a funeral home and used as a funeral escort vehicle. My friends at work think it's a Hurst! One cool option this car has is switch that makes the headlights blink back and forth like a police car. Anyway, I could get into trouble with that option! Although the engine, body and interior are in very good condition, there is some rust spots on the under carriage. My friend who also works on my cars says that he can take care of some of those issues. we'll see about that. Here are some exterior photos of my wagon... | |

| WELCOME to the group.Thats a beautiful wagon and a rare one too.The black paint with the wood delete option is by far the most rare of all the wagons.Take care of the rust ASAP so it doesnt do more damage. If you need help with your wagon problems just ask because I am sure someone here has already done the repair probably more than once. Again Welcome Jim Gordon |

| That's a very nice looking wagon.
There are a few of us on Long Island if you need a hand, want to see some mods in person or looking for cruise nights or shows.

| Whoa I've never seen the fender emblems. Were those a dealer thing? I thought the '96 wagons just got the special hood ornament. Hmm. Cool. |

They look a little cheesy but I like them. The hood ornament is also a recycle. GM used it on the "last" rear-drive 1985 Buick LeSabre's hoods. Gotta love how GM recycles!

| Here's a pic of the parts-hauler '96 wagon that was at the Pate swap meet in Ft Worth. It had the front fender Collector's Edition badge emblems. It also had a HUGE trailer hitch on it and 200K miles. ; ) | |

Just an FYI, 3M grey double-stick mounting tape will solve your drooping black side body trim issues. That happens on ALL these cars. Was one of the first things I did on my car. You can buy it at most auto parts stores. Try to get as much of the old mounting stuff off and get both the metal trim and the back of the black plastic-rubber trim really clean. Works great. Really nice looking car there! -Mike

| Thank you for the kind words.
Mike, I'll try that 3M tape...Now that the weather is warming up here in the NE, I can start doing some of those little projects. First, I have to pull out the rear seat and pull up the carpeting...The rear floor pans are in bad shape...some insulation/carpet fibers already coming through the bottom of the rear passenger side seat.
Stemmle, thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. It's funny how many Caprice Wagons and RMW's I've noticed since I began driving this one. In Long beach I've seen two other wood delete RM wagons, one black and one red. Also 2 caprice wagons as well.
When I pull the carpeting, I'll try to post in the appropriate forum.
Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks Jim Gordon Do you have O'Reilly Auto Parts up there? Here's the link. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/Other+Tapes/N0060/C0404.oapI think it's model 3609. Get the widest you can find. I'm sure most auto parts places stock it. It's a grey tape with red backing you pull off. Knock on fake wood, it's lasted almost a year now and still holding strong. Just try to get the mounting surfaces as clean as possible. Good Luck! -Mike

| Mike, Did you pull off all the molding, clean and reapply with the tape or just did small areas as needed? It looks like most of my molding is tight...looks like it's held on with tanish colored glue. There are some spots...maybe an inch or two long here and there that looks loose. Should I just work the tape into those areas or pull molding back several inches, clean and reattach? Adam | |

| nice wagon. My old rms sedan was PPM. A wagon that colour would be pretty sweet but less so than black wb4. | |

| Nice wagon, love the color. I've got an old "flower car" myself, but mine came with body bags, not holy water. If you have the time, remove all the rubber molding, clean the mounting surfaces, and re-tape it all with the 3M exteriour tape. Or.... Replace all the bulky molding with black vinyl tape of the same thickness, it looks real nice. BigBlackBeaSSt taped up my car last year this way, love it. | |

Adam On my doors, the trim ends/edges were drooping when I bought my car, and one door and the tail gate trim were totally off. You may find that when you start to pull the trim back to clean behind the sagging areas that the rest of it comes right off. If that happens just use the tape on all of it. If the attached part is still tight I'd pull the sagging part away just enough to clean behind it, and if possible use a razor blade and scrape as much of the old adhesive off as you can, then re-attach with the tape. On mine I ended up cutting the tape into strips to fully cover the back of the molding, as one strip of the tape wasn't wide enough, and two strips was too wide. I love these wagons but that trim attachment was VERY poorly thought out by GM. Please post before and after pics, and again, good luck! -Mike

| Lorne that has to be the one of the most sickening acts that a sick bastard would perform on any unsuspecting person.Wish I had money because I would pay dearly to have a beating performed on that sick bastard.I mean a real walk funny for life, has to sit down to pee and two broken hands kind of beating.Just ruined my evening Lorne but I have a new goal in mind now. Thanks a Bunch Jim Gordon |

| Sorry Jim, I saw that story while we were away. We could onlly get that network for news and weather. I just remembered it when I saw Nick's location and wondered if it was big headlines there. The thing that I hate about these story's,is now it sparks other nut bars to do the same. Sorry for getting off topic Adam,My creepy Funeral guy comment was a joke,I am one | |
