I've looked through this section and maybe I missed it.
My question is this. Keeping with stock steel wheels.
What is the most width I can put under the back of the RMW.

Thanks,
Loren

Stock steelies are 7" wheels. So probably a 255?

Stingroo,
Thanks for the reply. Now I will take that info along with the stock diameter and see what profile will work.

Loren

I thought 235 was the max.

I googled a bit on the subject and came across this from an RX7 forum:

http://www.yokohamatire.com/pdf/AO32Rbltn.pdf

Those yokohama tires say that a 255/60 16 can go on a rim from 7-9 inches. I don't think the rim diameter would matter in that calculation though, would it? So I was assuming you could run a 255 on a 15x7 too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems logical to me. Anyone else care to chime in?

The 255 will work fine on a 7" rim, but the car will most likely feel squirmy from the bulged side wall. Ideally you want to keep the tire tread width as close to the rim width as possible.
I've run both 255/70/15s, and 255/50/15 on 7" rims on one of my wagons before and liked them ok, but 235/70/15s feel better IMO, but it depends on the look you are going for.

Go here to check for fit, and speedo error: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

Put the OEM 225/75/15 in the first box, and then put the tire you want/need in the second box.

You can use up to a 9.5 inch rim with a 255/60/15, and it will not hit the body.

225/75 15 is the factory tire size according to my door sticker.
