| My car has begun to puddle under the drivers feet. I put up with it a week of so and finally got time to pull up the carpet this morning. It is leaking under the plastic cowl in front of the windshield. No way to get down in there to find it. I pulled the plastic covers off and wiper and run the hose very gently into the area just above were my feet are while driving. It leaks in on the firewall and down by the wireing harness on the divers side.
NOW WHAT!!! How do you pinpoint/fix that!!!

| Could be a clogged drain hose for your AC.Dont know if you have been using your AC or not but your compressor runs a lot more than you think Tim.Dont know exactly where the drain hose is but I am looking as soon as I am done here and will get right back to you. Jim Gordon |

| Jim,
Drain hose is on the opposite side of the car. I have been down that road enough times to recognize it..... Thanks!

I had a similar problem on the passenger side of my first RMW. The floor was always wet. These were the old days before I was "into" wagons. I never could figure it out, until one day when I had time. I pulled off the passenger side cowl and stuck the hose down inside. The water poured in the front passenger area. I let it drain and dry. I then caulked and sealed anything that looked like a seem with tube silicon. End of leak. The driver side may be similar.
What am I doing today? Taking off the roof rack and resealing.
Good Luck.

| did you run extra wires, or oil pressure line thru the firewall drivers side? Pull the carpet back from under the pedals, take off the lower dash and insulation,. lay on your back with a decent flashlight while the hose is running,..

Tom I did that when I replaced my headliner. Also rust proofed the entire roof and all pillars. Hope it all holds. - phantom 309 wrote:

nick Good idea's nick. I did all of what you said. Then I spoke to John (mtrhead79) and he had the same issue. Turned out to be the grommet and hole for the rear wiper on his, and that is what it is on mine as well. I pulled out the fender stabilizer and tried to seal the hose and grommet. I will test it soon to see it I got it. If not I will need to remove the fender well and to get to it properly. Just a pain in the neck!! But I found it. Praise God.

| tim you should not have to remove fender. push on it from engine compartment side it will pop out into the inter. use black silicone on plug and a little on inter. side of fire wall and some around the washer hose. if it does not work you can get a plug out of a 4 door car and either not run the rear wiper hose or drill a hole in it so you will have a tight fit around the hose | |

| My first attempt did not work. I tried to do it from under the hood. I will try again the next dry day I get.
I was going to pull the wheel well not the fender. thought this would make it easier. I am unable to contort my body enough to do it fully together. I will try from the inside.
Thanks!! | |

| when you "caulk" it,. make sure you seal around the stuff going/coming thru the grommet,. not just the outside of the grommet itself,.water travels,.

| I got the grommet off tward the inside of the engine bay. Cleaned it up the best I could with carb cleaner and put Permatex Black Silicone sealer it. All around the grommet. And then put some sealer on the hose the pulled it in and out a new times. I will let it dry over night and try it tomorrow. | |

| I think that got it...... I ran some water into the cowl this morning. It did not come into the car. Need a good warm day to really dry the car out and I will know for sure.
