| I have a question. Since I didn't want to hack up my driver's seat for my center console, I had a friend pull another TBI red passenger seat for me. What I'm wondering is though, what did you do for the driver's side? Obviously a passenger seat will go there, but what about the reclining lever? Is it possible to move it to the left side of the seat? If so, how? It isn't a HUGE loss to not have a reclining driver's seat, but I'd still like it if possible. |

| Ray you will still have the reclining feature but the lever will be on your right instead of your left side.Forgot that the recline feature would come in handy for a young college guy such as yourself. As far as the console blocking access just cut a small opening on the inside of the console to reach the recline lever. | I know that, but I was worried it may not reach, and I'd like to not hack the console if I could get away with it.
Recline feature isn't something I use often, I actually drive with the seat all the way up. I'm weird. I just don't like losing that option. |

| I thought about that. There is a 9C1 in the yard, I could snag the seat and put the red skin on it....
Maybe. We'll see if the wrong-sided lever bothers me enough to do that. |

Maybe. We'll see if the wrong-sided lever bothers me enough to do that. Just my $0.02, but the riv console is a big snug down near where the handle would be. It'd bother me.

| Just move the lever to the other side. Tom will tell you how to do it. | |

| If that can be done, I'd gladly do it.
Tom, good sir, I am all ears. |

| I just swapped my driver seat recline assembly onto the passenger seat frame and bolted that to my driver side rails. It looked much easier than swapping the handles because of all the little parts involved. It looked like a HUGE PITA to me.
Of course I didn't research much and the lever swap may be easier than it appeared to be.

| I planned on bolting the new seat to my existing driver's seat frame so I could keep my power seat functions, so I think I'm stuck with the other method.
Right? Maybe? Possibly? lol |

| I haven't tried it yet, but recall from the Impala forum that you can reverse the lever to the other side, you are only left with the hole on the right, which the console will cover. | |

| The recline feature still works fine, but it is a tad tight to use it. I can still get my fat hand in between the console and seat. Not a big deal IMO. Dill an access hole in the console..... You make me laugh Jim. Mike | |

| it is not hard to flip the recline over. i did mine and was expecting it to be harder than it was. i stitched the old hole shut but if i ever did it again i would leave the old hole alone the material is kind of thin when you pull it together. the console hides it and its not worth the effort. the new hole just use a razor and cut a single slash in material. you have to flip the whole assembly . if i rememeber correctly remove seat tracks then you have to remove what looks like flat washer but they are like a push on clip be care full you dont break them use a screw driver to work them off. i broke one but had another seat i stole it off. when you swap it you will be moving the part of the seat that has the springs that hold the back of seat up. you cant just flip the reclining rod it wont work i tried it. but just flip it all from side to side. hope i did not confuse you more. but once you start it is not that bad. i would never leave it on the console side | |

Yep, me too. Plus I had about a thousand seats laying around, and pulling the whole mechanism and switching it over only took about one beer's worth of time.

| Why not just take the old drivers seat back off the original frame, install on the new seat base and use the existing passenger seat cover? Just did a swap on the Caddy and both seat backs were the same.

| I ended up pulling the seats off of the rails, and then pulling the recline mechanism off of the driver's seat and swapping it into the passenger one. Worked great, took no more than 30 minutes or so? Loving this mod. |
