| I'm installing a suspension today into a 96 RMS with the V92 springs (the trailer towing spring which GM charts as one step stiffer than the 9C1 spring while sitting lower. I've measured the spring installed at 27" front and 20 1/4 " rear with a 27.1" diameter tire) The goal is a softer riding RMS than my 95 with Eibach springs. Airlift #60755. ZQ8's, 35mm F+R sways, UMI #3615-B LCA's, DMR 5029-W rear frame braces, Koni 1087-1088 shocks. I'm going to adjust the Koni's half way to between full soft and full hard, expecting that to keep things soft I'll have to readjust then toward full soft. Has anyone here ever used soft springs like these (compared to aftermarket lowering springs) with Koni's? | |

I think the ZQ8's might defeat the purpose on the front,.
Nick replied in another thread to this same statement. INMo if you want a softer sprung (soft riding) yet wish to retain good control,. then factory wagon springs with the koni's set to firm would work best,.with decent sway bars,. better control would be attained with shocks that are adjustable both on compression and rebound,.then you will be able to tailor the ride to your personal preference,. Shocks that are adjusted for less resistance on compression allowing the wheel to rise quickly coupled with a soft spring rate so as to not transfer the 'lift' to the body but rather absorb the energy into compressing the spring,.the shock then adjusted for firm rebound so as to control the spring returning the wheel, yet not enough to "lower" the passenger compartment very much, That will effectively give the passengers a 'soft' ride. The car will "wallow" in the corners without an effective sway bar setup. I would think this is a situation where the crown vic rear bar would be most effective,. on a stock sprung stock shocked wagon,.this is why it seems to be a very popular good value for money mod.
