| The 100K mile curse continues. The light behind the bass and treble on my wagon burned out. Saw it happen driving last night. DOH! I got that radio used from the salvage yard a year ago for the CD player, my car only had cassette from the factory. The CD radio came out of a 97 LeSabre. Plug-N-Play and looks stock. Going to take my old cassette-only stereo apart tonight and see if it's possible to pull a bulb from it, or if they are soldered in.
The cassette player in both radios has never worked. No big loss since I mainly listen to CD's, but if I can't replace the bulb I may be on the lookout for another stock CD radio....with a working cassette this time. I could pull out all my old 80's tapes again...
We'll see.

| Well shoot, but thanks for saving me a project tonight. CD radios are $20 at Wrench-A-Part with a 30-day warranty. Will go brave the heat soon and cross my fingers.
Thank goodness they used these in a lot of Buicks in the 90's. They're still common radios in the yards. | |

| That's cheaper than here. They're $25 and most of the time the're already gone. We only have lkq and I suspect they are pulling some of the good parts for their epay business before putting the cars out.

| Not only that, but LKQ is owned by Advance Auto Parts now, and you can get salvage parts through them. |

| What a difference in the 95 and up stock radios. I opened my 94 radio and it had 3 bulbs total that lit up all the controls and back light. I took out my 96 tonight thinking I would replace a few soldered bulbs. Holy crap....18, count em, 18 micro bulbs to light up this radios controls and backlight! Had to go to 3 Radio Shacks to get enough of the replacement micro lamps. Then the fun of de-soldering and soldering. My eyes are strained but it was worth it. Just plugged the radio back into the wagon and it is fully lit now. | |
